This year's cruel summer has been forcing people to educate themselves about global warming.
Global warming is increase in average temperature of Earth. The average temperature of the globe has increased 1 degree Fahrenheit since 1900 and the speed of warming has been almost three folds since 1970.

Cause : Green house gases like Carbon dioxide, methene , ozone, nitrous oxide.

I do not have much technical knowledge. I only know that the global warming is owing to industries, vehicles and deforestation.

The earth is covered by a thick layer of ozone which regulates the amount of ultraviolet rays emitted by sun from reaching the earth. These ultraviolet rays are very harmful and can cause skin cancers, injury to eyes if they are absorbed by the body more than required. The greenhouse gases that are emitted due to deforestation, pollution etc burn a hold in the protective layer around the earth thereby increasing the radiation of UV rays. The oevrall effect of this is Global Warming and we are already experiencing a lot of examples of it!

Warming is due to Infra Red rays which comes from sun and radiated back by earth. This is absorbed by carbondioxide in atmosphere and hence atmosphere becomes hot.

@Abid, infra-red rays are responsible for only warming up teh atmosphere, whereas UV rays has much more serious impact than that.

Net being very slow that URL doesn't open. Thanks for your suggestion.

But I think global warming occur due to absorption of IR rays by green house gases rather than UV rays.
