While the issue is not one maturity. They should grow to be mature. But maturity at an early age does more harm than good.
When children mature early than they will go told early so this is major harm..............

Here the discussion is confusing.Smartness is not a sign of maturity.Don't mix them up.

@Abid you are right, mixing smartness with maturity is not prudent, but isn't that what parents are doing to their children? In the zeal that they show to make their children more smart, what they are doing is expose their children to various issues and taking away their innocence and childhood!

I think there is a very thin dividing line between smartness and maturity. We can not expect immature people to be smart- to put it the other way round. When we are discussing it we are also talking about their bodily maturity too.
@Chinmoy, I think that was what we were discussing when this thread started, but slowly we got diverted to more emotional issues!!

Thanks Kalyani for putting it back on the rails!!
I think other reason of early maturity is Film, video games, competition , career etc........

Yes indeed they are becoming more intelligent...even a 1 year child is able to grasp many things which should be know in 4 years age.. This is not only due to technology development but also the increase in intellegence. Maybe some genetical factors are also affecting..
Yes, earlier the children were rare to experience all these. But now they perceive all in earlier life itself. But it creates an awarness only , not to be told as maturity reaching.
