Well begun is half done. We have at least one medal and this is Narang's contribution. Commendable.
Yes.
How many times we have seen Olympics, 2nd most populated country of the world returning even without a single bronze medal. Isn't it????
Really India is improving :S :woohoo: :S :woohoo: :S :woohoo:        :P ;)

World's 19% of population lives in China so its oobvious they get lot of medals in Olympics and we Indians contribute 17% of world's population and look at us how pathetic is our situation in Olympics.

great to hear about this news. my heartful congratulations to him..
As usual, we are so 'satisfied type' that a country of 140 Crore can simply manage a few(?) medals and consider them worth billions. Let's see if we could manage to reach beyond 5 medals. Narang is certainly more talented than this performance but even this is enough to make him darling of the crowd.

Apparently, excellence is not a tradition in India. People are happy with mediocrity everywhere. 'Middle course' is most preferred everywhere. There should be no excess as this is bad everywhere. Excellence means excessive merit or achievement. this is also bad. The saints like kabir told- Ati ka bhala na barsana no dhoop (Neither excess rain nor sun shine is good.) Such line is adopted everywhere. Ati Sarvatra Varjayet (Excess is forbidden everywhere) is our philosophy. we need to make the philosophy of excellence in all good things and zero tolerance in bad things. If we resolve to get first position and really work for this, we can.

Yes he is more talented and he deserves more than a bronze medal but we people are satisfied that he included the name of our nation in the medal tally and it may happen that India come back home with only this medal.

I think when this all starts at selection level, we loose out thee itself. The way our federations and selectors work is enough to give you a hint. We don't go there to win but have experience for the next Olympic- this is the standard line of our coaches, Federation chiefs and players themselves.
Their standard statement is "we have nothing to loose" Yes they have nothing to loose but the pride of the country. They perform better in trials but well below where it matters. This is so disheartening to see/read one player knocked out after another as the days pass by.
Teams come back the day their events take place, so a rare Rathour, Bindra or Narang, Vijender become the darlings of the crowd.
However this does not take the credit off Narang, he is really talented.
Another cheer from shooting camp......
This time it's Vijay Kumar. He gives a silver medal to our country, when Narang couldn't get into the final round.

But a sad thing is that, another Indian (Common wealth games Gold medal winner) lost the third position by just 1-2 points.
