Is it because it's a male dominated industry????

But everyone has to admit, without actresses and supporting actors, no actor will become a superstar

Film industry giving very less time only for heroins.

After marriage they are not giving good chance to act.

Actually they remain busy with kids and family also get fated and loss their heroine figure.
For heroines in Indian film industry glamour is the most important thing and flexibility to in any type of role comes next that's why now-a-days its difficult to find a good one who can be called superstar ( all rounder).. where as for heroes things are different and beauty is just one criteria...
why I know many superstars like Vaijantee Mala, Hema Malini, Sri Devi, MadhuBala, Meena Kumari, Sadhna, Asha Parekh and Madhuri Dixit. I can give you a whole list of them.
Film industry is also male dominated. The actresses/ heroines are sometimes even selected by heroes or super stars.

Yet, if I were to name super star women, I shall select Meena Kumari, Nargis, Sharmila Tagore, Shabana Azmi. It is said that Dharmendra owes to Meena Kuamari his entry in films.

But these are not superstars of today... however they are evengreen starts who will always be a idol for new actresses...
There was a dream girl in the Film Industry, Hema Malini.
I haven't seen another Actress, who is named Dream Girl.

Yes one song is also on her-
Dream girl, dream girl
Kahi to melegi,kabhi to melegi
dream girl.

There i one more song, which is always played when she arrives on any stage.
I am not sure about its Lyrics, but let me try.I Apologize, if you don't find me correct.

Dream girl, Dream Girl, Kahi Pyaar ka safar or Dagar or nagar, dream girl.

You see, if these are no superstars in female section there is no super star in male section today. Amitabh is talk of the past and Shahrukh is self promoting himself. Only Aamir is there who counts a little. But then we have Priyanka, Katrina, Karina and so on.
Thats what am also telling, in present film field there are no female super starts in old and now. All are considered as superstar. Old movies are mostly remembered by the heroines like madubala.

But you always forget the big heroins of olden days like Padmini, Ragini, ShriDevi, Jailalitha, VaijantiMala and Sharmila etc.
As this is male dominating world so due to this women cannot be a superstar.

Actually she is titled as dream girl after this song only.
In our telugu industry also we can say the name of Savitri as she is named for acting.
In Malayalam industry, as only 5% films are romantic and more than 75% are action movies, females have only a little to do with, in the silver screen. In the screen presence of Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Mohan lal etc.....heroines don't get much importance as 90% viewers are action movie lovers and I rarely have seen actresses doing action. Vani Viswanath is one among those few heroines.

People make fun of Malayalam movies saying...."To show the presence of females in the screen (of action movies), some images covered in saries loiter in front of screen once in a while, just to make their presence"

There are Tabbu, Shabana, Smita Patil Rohini who can give a good fight when it comes to talent.

Go back to this thread and see my long list.
I think female stars are either named as queens or item numbers....In both the cases, they are seen as a decorative object!!!

Only parallel cinema is an exception!!!
