Why re-testing done in private hospitals????

Suppose, we are going to some big private hospitals for a particular treatment. It's sure, we will take all our recent tests and reports. Isn't it?
Yet, they will ask us to test everything again   saying, it's just to re-assure those problems.
But the hidden truth is they can earn extra profits by doing those expensive tests again.

2 years back, while I was at Kodungallur, my friend and husband came from Bangalore for a treatment carrying all reports taken just 1-2 weeks before from a famous hospital. Yet, they were asked to conduct tests again costing them more than 15,000.

Is it necessary????

I agree with the comments. The hospitals aim mainly at getting more profit. They exploit patients to the full. They will even ask for the tests that are not really needed. They will also ask you to admit patient in hospital longer than necessary. In some cases, they even continued with treatment of dead patient.
yes you are right sandhya, this is one kind of earning money and making cash with the patience health and belief but i feel its really rediculous
Actually, they know well repeated tests are not necessary. Yet, they do it saying, we can't keep records of other hospitals. We want to confirm it according to our tests.
Medical profession has become a dirty business. Their objective is to snatch money from patients by hook and crook. Very sorry state!!
Sometimes, they ask us to do tests that are not at all necessary.
I think, this process is seen more in big hospitals than small ones.
Actually small hospitals are satisfied with the test reports taken from other hospitals. That's not the case of big ones!!!!

Because of less money and confidence on them make retesting in hosipitals.
Few days before, my dad took my mom for eye test, they have checked her eyes and they told them to goto the hospital which is a headquarter. that hospital is 45km away from our location. My parents went to that hospital. then they test and again they suggest my parents to come next week as they need to test again. my parents gain went and had test. they again suggest one more test.

One more thing is, after going there, those hospital people used to make them stay full day. so that the people who stay full day will definitely have food in their canteen. So that they can be benefited by making money through tests and through canteen. My parents noticed this and stopped going to that hospital
I don't think it is necessary at all, if patient or family members want that reassurance, then its okay... They just want extra money like that, not only that they also do some tests which are surely not needed..

Yes true! The patients also have no other alternative but to repeat the test because at that time his life is more important than money.. Even after doing so much repeated tests the diagnosis is not done properly because they are meant simply to earn profit.

That's why they are making use of those situations well    because rules are made by then only
Even the doctor collect consultancy fee more than once for same patients..Is it necessary??? No one can question as its matter of life and death...just pray to not visit a hospital in life..that's all... :S
It is a profitable business and as we don't know anything so we are bound to do as they say. They take just advantages of our ignorance.
Yes Ram they can earn fast money and give us the same report we are fools for them.
retesting has become a serious problem.doctors did this as they earn a good commission from those testing centers.but it has become a serious problem for the middle class and lower class people.
There is a simple logic behind this, doctors are paid handsomely for every case referred therefore they send every one to the testing labs of their choice.
