    No India including Rakesh Sharma went to space from Indian soil. Rakesh Sharma, an Indian astronaut went in a soviet (Russian) spaceship. There are many persons of Indian origin who went to space. One is Kalpana Chawala, born in Haryana (India). She went in American space ship and unfortunately died in space.

    A small step for man but a giant step for mankind.
