No doubt that politics comes first, then it is films and cricket which seem to dominate the media attention. Shah Rukh Khan/s birthday celebration becomes national news whereas a poor farmer commiting suicide is relegated to the 5th or 6th page in small prints...It is the same with cricket and sports person.
Do they ( they print what we like and read )or rather do the reading public have their priorities right?

Now a days in news channel and in other channel we could only see about the films and cricket. To advertise the films the actress and the actor and even the director himself comes to the media and encourage people to watch new release of the film.Cricket also dominates a large place in media.

Media has to earn money too and money comes from people who have it. Films and cricket are full of money so you see nothing but films, cricket and politics.

There has always been a connection , but cricketers normally concentrated on their game and may be on a couple of occasions married a film star like in the case of Sharmila and Pataudi...But of late the tragedy is that Filmstars are taking over cricket and making it into a film set ...

Thats true and media is also more concerned with glamorising all issues ! We come to know all about star birthdays, since it becomes breaking news on that channel , flashing away each time you go to that channel, or if there has been any minor incident in a star or cricketers life , the entire nation becomes aware of it   ;)

For them news having national interests no values but a model found drunk is a breaking news.
Actually most of the people in this world are much interested in films and cricket and next comes politics. So news people had alot of chance of making money through these subjects, especially film and cricket as people are more crazy about them
I have a question- while they have sports channels broadcasting every game live what is the need of news channels making so much hue and cry? News is alright but they simply do it live, ball by ball.
Now a days we won't find the news channel without the film and cricket. No other news are telecast on the TV.
Yes this is sad but they do it what people like this is our mistake that we don't take interest in social issue rather than entertainment I remember whenever something happens with a film star it is repeatedly shown on all TV news channels and people take interest in watching it.
Yes now not only in media but in every channel we could see that for 24 hours film are going on.We forget to get other interesting things.
Cricket and film get more into the media.they just capture the news channel. No other news are get to be found due to cricket and film.
These two are major things from which every one can earn a large income. So they will get money from sponsors when they used them.

It is the same the world over...people like to see and hear about people who are better looking, more successful and wealthier than themselves. It gives them some hope and probably motivation to do better, and the media is wholly going by the TRPs.The news of Aishwariyas rai's pregnancy, birth of her daughter and the speculation over her child's name got the maximum trps and who is to blame for that ? not the media alone ..The same goes for all the sleazy detials about some of our crickets which were in news a few years ago !

Actually, people are more interested in personal news about celebrities rather than their performance. This results in movie journalists crossing limits of decency by peeping in personal life.

Very true, the recent controversy over the British royal couples pictures being splashed all over the net and french newspapers shows that there is no respect for privacy and when it comes to publicity they would go all out..
Just few months ago, a TV show was hosted by the famous Indian Cricketer, Harbhajan Singh, "Ring Ka King". It was a wrestling match. Few people in India was interested in watching such sports game. Many wrestlers were foreigners. Thus publicity was less. Once Harbhajan Singh came in focus as host, it bacame popular. This is best example.
Friends rather than film stars and cricketers, politicians are also dominating media. They are the front page news coverage. Many film stars , cricketers and businessmen are politically connected for business and publicity.

This is obvious. Aishwarya Rai is first woman to represent India and she won "Miss World" title. She has many fans. Many girls want to be like her. Moreover she got married to famous Bachchan family. She is among one of the most powerful women in India. She is an international figure. Hence media will publish all news related with her life for her fans.

Yes Royal Families are also good concern of media and mass. In India, very few royal families exist in their usual status. Many have become street beggars. They hardly get food to eat. Such news cannot be a front page coverage. This can hamper their business.
