Almost all studies show that a child interested in reading and gaining knowledge is bound to do well in studies and also in later life, in career etc..
Another fact that most psychologists agree upon is that when you develop the reading habit, a person is able to become much more compassionate and able to realte to others better...

I agree. Picture books should be kept for babies. When they grow a little, bring pictorial comics. Even if they do not read, they will develop interest.

Yes i agree we must try to develop that habit in the kids from the beginning and that's what i am trying to do with my kids in these holidays and they give tremendous response. My daughter likes to read books she always insist on to give her the books to read. :)

Yes, I started reading in the early ages of my life and it grew along with me as a habit. Till now, book is sure, a best companion of my life, though I can't find much time for reading!!! I want to develop that habit in my daughter too!!

A best trick for children and people who are educating, is , when we people read news in newspaper we remember the news for more time. So I suggest that read the books and subject like news paper then there is no need mug up the subject

Reading is a habit that has to come naturally, when parents are interested in books and reading and buy books, children automatically take an interest in books and reading.Books are the best gift that children can be given since you are helping them develop an excellent habit that will mold their entire personality..

Such parents honestly know the value of books and education so they will do their best to see that their children take an interest.My own maid is illiterate, only has learnt to sign her name which I taught her, but she is very particular that her only daughter should be well educated and the little girl too is very interested in books and reading, doing well in studies as well...

I never had the habit of reading in childhood but i still have the habit. :laugh:

Now also if i get any magazine at home i don't leave it without reading. :laugh:
