Traditionally, a girl is expected to be housewife and home manager when she is married. She may get employed and earn as good as man. But she is brought up in a traditional way.

A man may also be good at cooking and home management. But the role of man and woman are defined since centuries. There can be exceptions. Ultimately, it is for a man and his wife to run their household and they may mutually decide each other's responsibility.

That is what i meant to say that traditionally we have decided the responsibility of a woman and a man but why is it so? Why can't it be vice versa?. :)

Today our Society is Dominance By man.man is everywhere. But Condition might Change Slowly.A time come when this become vice Versa........
Now every there is no difference between the gender for any work. But according to our Indian culture parents make their daughter to know all house hold work, though the husband of that girl may know or not.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

Yes now a day parents are very anxious about their girls.she has to go other house and there she need to control every activity of house including cooking too........ :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: If she was unable to do that she will be punished. That why they force their daughter to learn Cooking as she grew old..........
But now, I don't think majority of girls learn cooking before marriage.
Gradually she picks up everything

Meera sandhu
Why we expect a girl when she becomes 16~18 that she must know cooking and other house hold activities? Is it so that we take it granted that when she will get married she has to do these things why not we expect it from a man?

Sanjeev,
You missed something.
Parents expect girls to study household before marriage. Nowadays they want girls to study also. Parents have expectations from sons too.....to study well and earn a good job, be a good son to the family. Stand on his legs...so that he can bring a girl to the family. So, I think responsibilities of a boy is more than girls. What do you think???

But these days when people don't give much importance for marriage so why not they expect a good job from a girl and to know some house hold work from a boy.

Tell me....you have both...a boy and a girl.
How are you going to grow them? You might have a plan about them

To quote my own example I have 3 children 2 daughters and a son. My son is a great cook, loves experimenting with food and recipes and sometimes cooks for the whole family, but my daughters are taking an interest in cooking only now which is ok...As long as there is harmony and partners are able to adjust it need not be an issue :)

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

But now, I don't think majority of girls learn cooking before marriage.
Gradually she picks up everything
India is full of middle class family and still all middle class parents try to give all cooking knowledge to their girls. Those who does not learn they are belong High class family........
Why should this question be raised in the first place, why don't we see what is expected of a boy? Or the are made for household jobs? This mentality is responsible for condition of some of the girls, otherwise there should be no difference between the two.
