Actually, Christians also conduct the same ceremony on Saraswathi pooja in middle Kerala like Kottayam, Pathanamthitta etc :woohoo: :woohoo: though they write something else instead of Harisree

Not lips....but tongue.....Ohm..
Most kids cry while seeing strangers...best shown in pictures.
In some temples, kids are made sit on parents' lap so that they won't cry seeing strangers and big crowd.

They use a bowl of rice to make kid write, 'Hari shree'
"Om Harishree ganapathaayee namah"

When I was of 7 months a small ceremony what we called in bengali was annaprasan i.e mundan was celebrated and I have many photo of that ceremony of . I also heard from my mother that a grand party was thrown on the day.So like this many ceremonues are their for child.

I think the main ceremonies are 'naam Maran' and 'Mundan' Naam karan is just giving a 'name' to the child and 'mundan' is hair cut.. In some communities, there are also customs relating to first food taking by child, first admission in school and so on. The Muslims observe 'Sunnat'. The Christians have baptism.

Ram has already told about Annaprasam.
We also have.....the first time when rice food is given.

In the 28th day of birth, we tie black thread around his waist and put black bangles. Then only given colour dresses and ornaments. Do you have such customs?
When will you wear kids with ornaments first ?

Mundan means hair cutting. Isn't it?
Many people take their kids to Thirupathi or Palani at the age of 1.

Christians also do so at the age of 1. they go to Velankanni matha church
