PHP is good and yes surely it is used by many companies.. Personally I only work on asp.NET..

And about software most used?!! There are many...

Nope I am a website and software developer.. but in Dot net..
And I am having my own little company with my friends..

Yes PHP is quite good and surely it is having good demand.
