I do agree with the statement and the principal reason being rank commercialization of the media - both print and electronic. There are thousands of newsworthy constructive events which go unreported and the men behind these simply do not crave for publicity and the fruits of their silent selfless work benefit the society as a whole for many many years. Ironically our eyes rivet to the scandals of politicians which are reported in banner headlines!

By the way you seem to have chosen to bombard boddunan's forum with lots of thought-provoking ideas!!
The sensational news especially bizarre events, sports, films catch the eye of common man and get media attraction. Even in parliamentary news, the members raising slogans are reported more than useful discussions.
