Hi Soubhagya thanks for keeping this baby running.
Hi Rakesh saw your pm and this is for you.
First of all Rakesh, Soubhagya is a very experienced investor. I can say I am seasonal investor and he is a pro.
As far as equity research is concerned. It is more to do with studying the companies in which one is intending to invest.
And when I say studying, many expects come into it, say operational, financial, organisational structure, financial statements, etc.
Equity Research is useful in many streams including mutual funds. In fact mutual fund managers do more of equity research as they have to manage funds of other people.
Also NSE & BSE conducts many courses you should attend them.
Soubhagya has been with brokerage firms so he is as I told professional. He is the better person to guide you in this matter.

stay light in the market. with earnings season coming in april, be stock specific and be willing to cut loss if needed. those looking to invest long term take a call based on the numbers revealed. if its good, the markets are likely to go down after the results. that will give an opportunity for the long term investors to add their favorites into their portfolio. keep the portfolio very lean so that its easy to manage.
