I don't think so. But putting animals behind the cage is very difficult for them and for us to see. Zoo authorities may or maynot properly take care of them.

Yes, I went through some local newspapers in the past where I learnt that they are often given very less food to eat and often go through hungers because of the fact that the officials and workers never used to give their share of food rather they went to the extent of stealing their foods. But I think as of now many strict rules came in and they cannot do it so easily...

But I think as of now many strict rules came in and they cannot do it so easily...

In a way, the animals in zoo may be likened to inmates in a jail. The jail authorities also steal food of prisoners as the zoo staff do to caged animals.

Keeping animals caged in enclosed spaces where they are not in their natural habitat is cruelty enough, even if they are given food and are handled with care! The concept of zoos itself is cruel to animals!
