English is definitely an Indian language. This is no longer monopoly of Britain. What we adopt and use is ours. Just as an adopted child has the same status as natural born child, a language adopted by us and used is ours. English is the link among different linguistic groups. Hindi is also used widely and serves as a link. we should respect all languages as these serve the purpose of communication. We should be proud of our contribution to English language. English is written in roman script. I feel all Indian languages should be written in roman sript for better understanding and unity.
sajeetharan - Rightly pointed that people form groups and divide. In fact, language is for communication. what we use is ours irrespective of origin. Today English does not belong to Britain only. As we use English, this is ours. Rather it is a matter of pride that Indians have contributed a lot to enrich English. The names of Toru Dutta, Mulk Raj Anand and Sarojani Naidu are some prominent Indians who enriched English. The members on Boddunan also are playing a good role in enriching English. Although of foreign origin, English is not foreign. This is ours.
all we know hindi is the national language but wht is this news...............
Hindi is spoken in most states of India and is official language of Centre and most of the North Indian states. Being official language does not make a language national language. All languages listed in constitution of India and printed on the currency notes are national. We cannot say that Hindi alone is national language.
According to Constitution Hindi is OFFICIAL LANGUAGE of the union.

Article 343.1 says.

1. The official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script. The form of numerals to be used for the official purposes of the Union shall be the international form of Indian numerals.

So there is no national language. Most of the books/text books also inform that Hindi is our national language.
Since I know that, Hindi is the national language, but now Gujarat High court declares that, Hindi is not a National Language. Its not a final authority.

"Supreme court is the supreme don't worry"
As Kumaresh has rightly pointed out, Hindi is our official language and English associate official language. Any language has not been declared as national language. Moreover, this matter is insignificant.
