My answer: he is that person who creates the urge in the minds of his students to learn!!!

    I think a great teacher is someone who has a broader and clear knowledge about the subject matter he teaches, a caring attitude and has a desire to make a difference in the life of his students....

    i agree with you in some points but not regarding knowledge as not all teacher have sound knowledge in their subject but they can be great.

    I feel that there are many good teacher in our country previously but not now. A good teacher in my sense should first of all have good morals and postive attitude to make student grasp the subject. I agree with Gulshaji that 50% is done by teacher by guiding student in subject the rest lies in the hands of student.
