I have read about this but I would think that it is effctive only when it is coupled with some other factors like less spicy food and plenty of water etc etc...

That is true...our diet plays a major role in keeping any major diseases away. Just day before yesterday a gentleman of 51 who lived right opposite my flat died of liver cancer. He was a true gentleman so to speak, with gentle nature, very regular and generally good lifestyle but he was fond of eating fired foods and ate a variety of fried papads almost everyday and also had Bhajias in large quantities quite frequently. Poor guy was on bed for almost two years!

Really unfortunate that people take their health and body for granted ! And now heart attacks are becoming much more frequent among youngsters, as early as in the mid thirties range ! proper diet and nutrition should be cultivated from childhood itself otherwise it becomes diiffcult to break later on...

If you drink coffee in limit , you can reap the benefits of caffein in coffee.
Though I rarely take coffee and tea but I do prefer coffee over tea when both served at same time, as the feeling of refreshment with coffee is higher than tea. In my area, only branded coffee are available, unlike south. :)

Coffee is a favorite morning drink in South. Many prefer to grind the coffee seeds and prepare a more delicious coffee than the branded coffee.

Ooty and Kodai Kenal coffees are good also, I have been there and have seen coffee trees. In Odisha Koraput has coffee plantation, which began recently.

Where the atmosphere is cool all around the year, slopes of hills are ideal for coffee plantation.

More than the spicy food it is my love for pickles that is really damaging ...I simply cannot resisit having pickle with every meal...
I love sweet dishes with daily meals, and many a times a bot of pickle though I prefer home made pickle than the market pickles.

Sweet dishes in moderation is OK. So is the case with pickles, even pickles made in your house.
