If I remember right, Modi once said that he was neither eager go to the US nor he is losing a dime if they do not issue him a visa. Maybe they will come forward with a visa for him one day soon in their own interest.
I agree Sita Ram and the other MP may not have signed that letter .

I remember that once C.P.I. (M) had expressed the view that denial of VISA to a head of government of a state is an insult to the nation. There are disputes between different political parties but these are our internal matter. For U.S.A. and all others, we are one nation.

I agree but we do not mind such insults much, remember frisking of our ex prez and defence minister. Any other nation would have retaliated or even worse could have happened.

This is okay. But just imagine some of our MPs praising U.S.A for such outrage! That is what some MPs are doing by writing to U.S. President.

This is due to kind of party politics that we have in our country. In other countries they become united when something goes wrong but in our country we always act divided into low level communism, party we follow, nation is never of prime importance for us. I hope we shall learn to be one in outer attacks of any kind.

I remember India was one at the time of various wars. Only during war with China, there was some disunity, which is unfortunate. There is no doubt that we shall always be united against others.

Excuse me, but I do not mean battles here but petty or major attacks on our judgements, personalities, policies, decisions etc which other nations have no business to interfere. We should not overlook any interference which comes from outsiders on our domestic matters/affairs.

Visa should not be denied even to Chief Minister of a state.

Actually any country if avoid CM that it could be ok but to avoid PM it could be more harmful so US will try to become friend.

This is owing to our weak policy that U.S.A. affords to deny VISA to one of CMs. If for a change India denied VISA to some governor of a state in U.S.A. for alleged racial discrimination, you may well imagine reaction there.

MP's who want fame and doesnt like Modi;s popularity would have done it. It is not good for an Indian citizen to write a letter to US President to deny Visa for another Indian citizen. Its a shameful act. The decision should be taken by US government.

Truly shameful! It is our servile mindset which could have been the reason behind such highly despicable actions on the part of a few honorable (?) members of Parliament. They quixotically feel that still they are subjects of foreign rulers!!
Modi is being denied a visa for long. No doubt there are many allegations of communal violence against him. But is it justified to deny visa to a Chief Minister of Indian state? Moreover, issue of denial of Visa should be concern of U.S. administration only and there is no reason why Indian MPs should campaign against issue of VISA to Gujarat C.M.

Some M.P. s have written a letter to U.S. President requesting not to issue VISA. Sita Ram Yechurry , CPI(M) and one more M.P. have denied having signed the letter. Yechuri said that somebody could have copy pasted his signature. According to him, it is for U.S. government to decide and he would never write a letter to U.S. President or any other foreign had of state. .

Deed of MPs is shameful. If they have any problem with Modi than they should be decide within the country. Think for a moment if modi will be PM of India than USA will denied to issue visa to modi. First of all Modi is citizen of India. It is not insult of Modi it is insult of India.

There are number of incidents similar to this where we did not take any action although the protocol did not allow that particular country to act that way. And that is the point where we feel, we are inferior to other countries because our leaders/representatives have let us down.

N ow the forensic experts in U.S.A. claim that Modi letter is genuine. We may agree that the letter would have been drafted and typed in one go and there is no cut and paste. But how can they say that signatures are genuine. Signature are put only later and not necessarily all sign simultaneously. The possibility of cut and paste of signatures from various documents cannot be ruled out. Moreover even after putting signatures, signatories can retract.
