Now of course most of us know about scams , but in 2006 it was relatively unknown and just beginning. One of my online friends got a mail telling her that she had been chosen by a random online lottery by the government of a African country and was about to receive 3,50,000 dollars.Al she had to do was fill some forms and send it to them, which she promptly did ! After which they mailed her saying that she had to go to Bombay to collect the cheque at function and that her hotel room was organised for her..Until this level she was sharing the details with me after which I knew nothing about what was happening and I was busy..
She later mailed me saying that she had lost Rs 45,000 /-...
What had happened was she had gone to Bombay and two Africans had met her and given her the cheque and asked her for Rs 45,000 which was their fees. She made arrangements for the cash and gave it to them and when she tried to deposit the cheque, the bank refused saying that no such bank existed ...So that was that
I still wonder how she could have believed it and fallen for it ?

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

You should not use same email ID for social sites like Facebook and internet banking. This facilitates the fraudsters.
