The reasons are fairly understandable as we have not succeeded in a big way in indegenizing our defence supplies.
For what all these arms are piling in our country? Are we really braveless?

We need arms for defence and internal security. We have large borders and also internal disturbances from overseas terrorists, internal rebels and Maoists.

wars are never good but India has to prepare itself from internal as well outside attacks and for that weapons are a must...

Large boarders are not at all aproblem. There are many countries larger than India.

India has large borders and huge population. we need security on the entire border neighboring Pakistan, China and Bangladesh. We also need weapons for internal security. We also need to defend other countries with whom we have pact. all countries with large borders have armed forces with strategic weapons. There could be exceptions like Canada with no independent foreign policy and depending on others for defense. We are a fully sovereign state with independent foreign policy and need to spend more on defense and security. There can be no compromise with defense needs. Eternal vigilance is price of liberty.
