Yesterday was the birth anniversary of P V Narasimha Rao who was the most underrated PM of the nation, thanks to the family of Congress party and its coterie..Under his rule the economy was revived and liberalised ,reforms were brought in to boost business and commerce and for onnce there was no dynasty play at the center.Probably this is the reason why no one from his own party wants to remember him..

An outstanding PM, well known for his economic reforms. Country's economy added an extra dimension to itself during his Primeminstership. Of course it's but natural for the members of his own party who ended the then dynasty rule.
A scholar and Master of many languages will stay in the memory of all progressive thinkers of the country.
Narasimha Rao also gave up all his properties to the government for developmental purposes and if I remember right he did have some misunderstanding regarding this issue with his children which was later resolved amicably...He was a person with a great vision and together with Manmohan Singh as the FM, a new economic policy was drawn and the whole software revolution began under their leadership...

I think Narsimha Rao was the only one who could get the most out of our esteemed Mr. Manmohan Singh. LOL :) BUt jokes apart, he truly had great vision and did much for the economy of our country. It is quite unfortunate that the birth anniversary of such a person is not celebrated with vigour.

Many times, indecisiveness helps. There are always three alternatives- decide in a particular way; decide in another way; no immediate decision so that the issue gets diluted and is thus solved. Possibly, in many cases, he decided not to decide. Not taking any decision is often a good decision.

True sir. I expressed my view on his indecisiveness because in those days his distractors used to make it an issue. I very well remember many cartoonists including R. K. Laxman used to highlight PV 's profile with his famous " Pout". Of course in alighter sense.
PVN was remembered by Manmohan Singh although other prominent Congress leaders seldom take his name...
Startling fact came into light through the link article..
Rao's body was not even allowed to be taken inside the All India Congress Committee building after his death in 2004 as the Congress Party tried its best to deprive Rao of all the credit that should have been his due as the nation's prime minister at one of the most difficult times in its contemporary history.
Ungrateful Congress.
I honestly didnt want to take part in this discussion. I will just make one comment and exit. How can anybody give any praise to this man , Narasimha Rao, who was convicted and sentenced to jail term of 2 years for bribing JMM members of parliament to win no trust vote. He was let off by High Court on a technical point and died soon after. He holds the record of being perhaps the 2nd PM after Turkeys PM Mendes to be convicted for corrupt practice. One can always gloss over and say , well it doesn't matter!!!.

Narasimha Rao was the scapegoat used by the Congress high command to bribe the JMM MPs and Congress has had a history of bribing people left, right and center..

Was Narasimha Rao not a Congress man or he was a babe in the woods?. The entire thing was engineered by him. Please read the judgement , it is available in A.I.R files
PV and Manmohan Singh are knives with sharpness on only one side. Chanakya says those who are like knives having sharpness on only one like PV cannot survive.. PV was made a " Bakra" only for this single reason.. PV was a good planner not a schemer. These schemers who are in the side wings utilized this for their advantage.

PV was the schemer and planner. In fact he was awarded 3 years RI and not 2. The judgement held him culpoable. Respect the mind of the judge. PV was also charged with falsefying documents to show VP Singh son Ajaye Singh had bank acct in St Kitts. It was CBI case and emerged in 1996. It is important to be pragmatic and not swayed by emotion. As President of many Court martial I never allowed sentiment to come in.
I was in Air HQ when PV died. One can give him credit for the good he did, but it was decided that he could not be given a national funeral being the ONLY PM in Indian history to be convicted for corruption (3 year jail). This was not the only case but he was an accused in St Kitts forgery case and Lakhubhai cheating case ($ 100 thousand). We have to balance the good with the bad and he certainly did not deserve to be alongside the greats like Nehru, Shastri, Morarji and Indira. Let his soul rest in peace. Amen !
