Hello Friends, back with a new topic for discussion. I hope there is a good participation in this one as in the previous ones.
The topic for the discussion is:
Should a celebrity's personal life be open to public? Should every aspect of his or her life be scrutinized at length by media and the fans equally?
eg. I just saw a thread with title New baby of Shilpa(I assume its Shilpa Shetty being discussed by the user) Isn't she entitled to a little more privacy regarding her baby?? This is just an example and not the actual topic for discussion. Please read the questions carefully and post views accordingly!

Actually, I was also thinking about it in early morning. But forgot. Thank you for pulling this thread up :)
It's clear, everything think, let celebrities also remain in peace and enjoy their personal affairs as we do. Yet, we are eager to know about celebrities.
It's also true that we are eager to know about them since we love them and consider them as good models of society. We are easily attracted to film world, no doubt. When everyone is eager to know what's happening in the neighbour's home, the question is not at all significant, why they are celebrating celebrities' personal moments.
Actually it's a give and take policy. Celebrities also enjoy them, even if they never reveal. They have to take care of even their nail polish. Otherwise, through next day newspaper pages, TV channels and web pages, media will criticize them saying, "Her shoes are not matching with her earings, she has won the same dress in last month SRK party etc....". So Celebrities need to take care of even minute things before they appear before the public. Isn't it?

Everyone has a fundamental right to privacy but in the case of public figures this one can't be thought of in absolute terms. Those who have chosen to come in public domain, have willy nilly accepted that some parts of their lives would come under scrutiny for instance no would have come to know the private affairs of the former Congress Chief Minister N.D.Tewary, had it not been exposed by the media!

N.D. Tewari case was legal and poses important question of rights of a legitimate son or daughter. This was also theme of Hindi movie Trishul with amitabh Bachan as illegitimate son (he described Sanjeev Kumar as illegitimate father). Here N.D. Tewari is illegitimate father.
People in public life need be more careful as any spicy information about them becomes public soon. The illegitimate son and concubine of N.D. Tewari have no doubt taken unusual step of moving court for enforcing their rights.
I also know of several cases where some celebrities plant stories about their private lives to make themselves 'sell'. Here we have a clear case of misuse of what is strictly their private space. If some of them choose to make a mockery of their own private rights - what are they complaining about?

More frequently, such publicity stunts are just before the release of their film to market their film. Some times, romours spread that hero and heroine are in deep love thinking people will rush to theatres to see their romance onscreen. Very soon after the release, break up stories arise. Isn't it?
If so, whose fault is this?
We have a line of actors and actresses of yester-years who were protective about their private lives and led dignified lives without any problems. This trend is relatively new and this right is being 'invertedly' used to promote careers of some. Those who complain of their personal and private rights being violated are themselves responsible in most cases. We have strict legal provisions and whenever they have genuine cases they can easily knock the doors of justice which they seldom do! After all, those who contemplate coming to the temple of justice, must come with a clean pair of hands - not ones with a guilty conscience!
Why has the discussion turned cold???? Just to bring it on top and re initiate it! Come on guys, post something!!
I must admit that there are always two facets of every coin, there are many celebrities who are suffering due to people who are after the cheap publicity but not all of them are the same. Some stay away from cheap methods and deserve their privacy as much as other normal people do. Remember the case of Diana the princess who had to die untimely because she was center of attention of the world media for different reasons. I have seen great players during my playing days and I do remember the different styles of different players. Some of them were real playboys while others were shy type but they all were mobbed and harassed the same way by public and media

Yes it is right . The celebrities need to take care of themselves because newspaper,Television media and other media like to write some personal news about them. If we see any news paper there will be 3-4 pages where only celebrity news will be mentioned. The other news would be hardly there in the newspaper. Thats y we people also got use to watching or hearing their news.
Even if celebrities enjoy a royal life, people noticing them everywhere, they can't lead a normal life as we people. It's the biggest advantage of being a celebrity. Isn't it?
Most of them enjoy it. Still, some people may be there who love open air with no eyes watching them around, while they are out.

Let us accept this very basic fact that all celebrities or public persons do not form themselves into one homogeneous group or unit. They hail from different strata with different cultures and perceptions of life. Some persons are very protective about their privacy and take affirmative measures to save it from the prying eyes of the media and are very successful too.We have to stand by their rights- not the ones who hanker after media publicity at all costs, yet grumble about violation when things go wrong. There is a proverb in English 'you can eat the cake and have it too'. I think that succinctly sums up their dilemma which they are up against!
Yes, of course.
Media should leave those persons who want to keep away from publicity. But very often, media finds enjoyment in teasing such celebrities.
They want to increase the circulation of their newspapers and magazines. So they always compete with one another, giving more restlessness to most hot celebrities
It's not the case of celebrities only. Anything that can get quick attraction of public is made more visible by media....cable channels are also not far behind

Every right gives birth to a corresponding duty. Whosoever may be involved in the matter of exercising a right to privacy - a celebrity or an ordinary nameless person must perform the duty of keeping his or her much cherished private rights in a such manner that their sanctity are not violated. If one incites or provokes the media into assailing them with shady intention of making some unethical gains, they have simply no business to complain! On the other hand if an overzealous media invades into the private space of any citizen, there are enough laws to put it in the dock!
Let me say something about Santhosh Pandit and negative publicity.
{CJATTACHMENT ["id": 7324]}
Look at his picture.....can you imagine him to be the super star and new face of Indian cinema. He is the best example of negative publicity. Last year he did a film in which he handled alone 18 catagories :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: except heroine    . He made a film and through his negative publicity, he earned 4 crores.
He believes that he is above Mamootty and Mohan lal and that super stars are nothing before him. He has told so in many TV channels too, which all have made no.1 comedy of last year.
Have you ever heard about people going to theatre only to insult a person and that that film in major towns and cities run in full packed houses for 1 week and more. Actually no one has really watched it, they bought tickets only to shout and say abuse words against him.
What did he lost? Nothing. But he earned 4 crores through his negative publicity. It's sure, he can't go to open streets alone. Where ever he went, people welcomed him with tomatoes (You can check you tube videos to see some). He gained a big amount through his songs also...from you tube
Actually he was using his negative image in a wise manner to get quick attention and high profit for his film.
Don't worry, his next movie is to be released very soon, because still he is believing his 'fans' have made his first attempt successful.

People like to do such negative publicity. This Santosh Pandit surely doesnt look like a celebrity in any way.
A common person can become famous either by good publicity or negative publicity. Such people dont care about anything, they only care about the publicity and getting famous in some way.

He just want to prove himself that super stars are not sufficient for making a film hit and even he can do it easily. It's sure, he can't dare to go out alone anywhere in Kerala because he always receives warm welcome. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: . Yet publicity helped him to grab attention easily....he was just a common man
On balance it is a right which needs to be rationally explained in the light of how a particular celebrity views it. If he or she remains conscious and conscientious about it,the chances of its misuse or abuses are very less.On the other if it is exercised with some ulterior motives, there would be be problems which no civilized society has any answer for.
Even when media hypes it to advance its own commercial interests, its target group often reacts to those very negatively in most cases. Thus it might prove be counter-productive. We have many film mags which feed readers with such spurious stuff and interestingly readers just go though these for 'kicks' without actually ever believing in them!
Thus I conclude and many thanks to those who have gone though my posts!
