I fail to understand why it is repeatedly stated that Hindus are  tolerant and they put up with nonsense. This sentiment betrays a lack of understanding of Hinduism. It is a way of life as the great philosopher Dr Radhakrishnan said. Hinduism is not strictly a religion as Islam or Christainity are because it was not founded by anyone and has evolved over many centuries and keeps evolving. It is not a dogmatic religion and is not stationery in nature. It absorbs various schools of thought from its practitioners and non practitioners alike. Dialog and debate are its essence. However many persons feel that it is in competition with Islam and Christainity, which it is not. Freedom of expression even if it is against itself is not unknown in Hinduism. Therefore this patronising attitude that if they criticise other religions is not justified. Yes I agree that one has to respect the sentiments of followers and not express one's views in a derogatory manner like insulting symbols of Hinduism as it hurts the feeling of the tolerant faithful.

As I said earlier all Rationalists do not  indulge in inflammatory or derogatory speeches. They are supposed to put forward their opinions only. That's all nothing more.

Switching sides in such matters is not uncommon. Now the channels  say clearly Dolly Bindra as a dissident. and we the viewers oscillating between uncertainty. and certainty.Who bothers ?

I mentioned some channels. For example our own Telugu media for the last 3 days has been showing Under ' Breaking News " as Heavy down pour in Vizag that's my Place. In fact there was not even drizzling what to talk of Down pour ? Do you call it as Reliable news ? However i never mentioned entire media is unreliable

Radhe Maa is the latest in a long line of such fake god persons in whom many people put immense faith and follow blindly. Somewhere inside the followers there is an element of doubt or insecurity which they want to be rectified but in the process they unwittingly lend themselves to be exploited by the self styled God persons. The followers range from poor to extreme rich. Dolly Bindra was an ardent follower and I remember seeing her supporting Radhey Maa on a channel earlier on. Usually the followers get trapped and find it difficult to come out.

I just read in Google news and Facebook comments. Personally, I am a rationalist and atheist. However I don't approve insulting any religious groupor beliefs. It is okay to give your views fearlessly but without causing any insult. Peeing or spitting on statues is bad and not appreciated even if you don't believe in statue worship.     Some Aethists and so called Rationalists tend to think that they are a cut above the rest and are great intellects which theycertainly are not - the only difference between them and those who believe is just that ! One believes and the other doesn't believe ! I have seen them speaking in derogatory terms about religion mostly about Hinduism simply because Hindus put up with their nonsense !

Your poor opinion of Indian media is not understandable. You mean to say PTI and media correspondents sit at home and listen to hearsay and readers lap it up since so many years. Time colonial opinions are revised.

ANY how, I do not subscribe to the fact that Rationalists indulging in delivering inflammatory speeches and rousing the public against anybody. I know Rationalists in AP like GORA never indulged in such inflammatory speeches or provoked the people. They simply express their opinions about the existence or non existence  of God.

It is expected.  Not only  Prof. Kalburgi, many rationalists and whistle blowers who exposed the atrocities of religious fundamentalists met with the same fate.

freedom is not cheap. It's expensive. Simply because you have freedom, you cannot encroach in to others periphery. It applies to every sphere of life. Religion or religious practices cannot be forced on others.

There is a sad event. Krnataka rationalist Kalburgi has been killed by religious fundamentalists. Somebody enquired about him and on seeing him immediately shot him dead and left by bike. This is second such incident- first in Maharashtra a few months back. It is worth pondering whether religious freedom, freedom of expression and other democratic rights are reserved only for Talibani mentality fundamentalists- be tney of Hindu or Muslim variety.  In Bangladesh and Pakistan, rationalists are targets. This is understandable. But it is surprising and unexpected in India.     http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/karnataka-rationalist-and-scholar-mm-kalburgi-shot-dead/article1-1385694.aspx

The laws have their own roles in the norms too and as long one is withing these he is free to exercise his faith/devotion within his premises without disturbing others. But If I begin performing Pooja with a loudspeaker on during night or day too is out of rules and should be stopped but who cares. I have seen it happening in every state of the country even where 10 PM is the limit. Who will come forward and and set a bell around cat's neck! Agreed. Just do anything (worship and devotion included) without annoying and disturbing others or breaking law.

Gulshan Kumar Ajmani said thank you to suni51 for his/her reply to the topic More about Radhe Maa satsangs .
No, I am free to exercise my religious devotion but that should not be against the set norms of society or against the law. There is no limit of one's devotion as long exercised withing their own premises and without breaking any law.

More ridiculous is the fact, people knowing fully about her activities through press and electronic media, still shamelessly following her. From the photos it is very clear that Radhe Maa and followers looking so care free and " Who the Hell cares for the press outcry" attitude.

One can only blame people for getting so esaily carried away and Radhe Maa is smart since she has many supporters who would go all out to protect her no matter what she does !!! The latest is crazy women hosting kitty parties with Radhe Maa theme where they all dress like her, can anything be more ridiculous than that !???   http://zeenews.india.com/news/india/believe-it-or-not-now-radhe-maa-themes-for-kitty-parties_1652748.html
