Kalyani Nandurkar said thank you to Lopamudra for his/her reply to the topic Why visit India Pakistan border .
It is an experience of a life time. Having stayed in Ferozepur(Punjab)for almost 3 years, have had the opportunity to visit both Wagah as well as Hussainiwala Border and witnessing the Flag Retreat cermony. It does give goosebumps and a feeling that can not be expressed in words..The soldiers of the two countries do shake hands but the fierceness in their looks and the charged actions ,almost challenging the other country kind of body language gets you engulfed in a patriotic spirit..the 'josh' is matchless . One must visit at least once. The Wagah Border is near Amritsar and Hussainiwala border is close to Ferozepur. The National Martyrs memorial is also located at Hussainiwala where Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were cremated. Thanks for sharing the link..it is "memories Revived'for me!!

Thanks for bringing back the cc in forums and in all other sections. I would have preferred if a few words were shared about one of the most important features of this site the 'articles' and contests in this thread. Thank You.

Sick and disgusting! This is what the real state of affairs in our country. The reason it does not get media attention is because it lacks glamour and anyway the media guys are busy lapping up sordid details of Sheena-Indrani case currently.

I too wish to see the ceremony one day, my brother saw it last month when he was visiting Chandigarh and Amritsar on some work. He tells me the actual ceremony is quite dignified and lovely to watch but what spoils the atmosphere before that is that loud Bollywood music is played on both sides and there is a silly competition of one upmanship between tourists of both sides dancing vigorously to the songs each side trying to make them appear better than the other. This takes away the gravity and dignity of the place.

Kalyani Nandurkar replied to the topic Do we need them? Have your say dear members .
While I am against reservation, it is still necessary for certain classes of people who are way way below the poverty line such as the people who wander through the country in search of employment on seasonal basis such as labourers brought in from various parts for harvesting sugarcane during winter season, children of communities labeled criminals by the British and are still described so in spite of having got independence 65 years ago, people performing acrobatics on streets etc. Reservation for such children is necessary to ensure they get education and also financial assistance to a certain limit. What we now see is people who are financially very sound, use flashy, expensive cars daily still get all reservation benefits because of their caste.
What we need is a system that will meticulously conduct research and surveys of such people, and please do not engage teachers for that job, there are numerous educated, unemployed, able youth who can do it and prepare a realistic statistical report of people who really needs reservation. This should be for basic education upto 10th or 12th std and vocational trades such as carpenters, blacksmiths, leather works etc. Beyond that, higher education should be purely on merit and financial assistance to be given only to the deserving and needy. NO reservation in jobs, that will ensure quality of workforce.
It will certainly not be liked by many but needs to be enforced because people have gotten into the habit of not taking efforts and working hard, which will take some to get used to. But down the line, cultivating the habit of working hard without any benefits of being in particualr class or caste, is what will take our country towards real progress.

Dear Members,
We are back after revamping the site design and now we would like to add some more interesting features. We would like to reintroduce the benefits we used to have sometime before. One of such benefit is cash credits award for being active on boddunan.com. So I would like to introduce Community Engagement Benefits program starting this September.
This program aimed at increasing the quality of content being posted but not the quantity and at the same time rewarding the users who are being more active. Here are the features of this program:
25 CC for each 500 points you earn in a month on selected activities
No limit on how much you can do
All members are eligible, no restrictions on anything
And to avoid misuses we have added few terms and conditions.
Points earned from only selected activities will be counted
CC will be awarded at the end of each month
Top Weekly Leaders program will be discontinued after 30th September.
We are going to add more activities under points system, so you can see more points for the same activities you are presently doing. This will take sometime but you can see most of them from Oct`15.
The points system will be revamped and will be notified to all members starting 2nd week of Sep.
Here are the initial list of activities eligible under this promotion.
New replies to topics
New answers to questions
Comments on articles (will be introduced later)
Getting upvotes/downvotes on questions/answers
Giving best answer
Winning bounties on questions
Getting likes/dislikes on topics/replies
Getting thank you on topics
Someone favoring your topics
Quiz submissions
Getting likes on quotes
Solving crosswords
Creating polls
This is a provisional list and we are planning to introduce more. However if you want some activity to be added under points system, please let me know.
Good luck.
