You mean the languages in eighth schedule ? States within India have the liberty and powers to specify their own official language(s) through legislation and therefore there are more than 20 officially recognized languages in India, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_with_official_status_in_India

I tend to agree with Gulshanji's views as it is the correct position. I feel the references provided by @Rambabu and @Usha are not correct for which they are in no way responsible. Web based information portals are many times not reliable as they are not authenticated. My reason for pointing it out is to set the record straight as otherwise wrong information goes through. There was no OROP in 1973 and thus it could not have been scrapped.  Is there any basis for your info that there was no OROP in 1973?   I an a retired Defence employee. I was involved in pay fixation of 1973 pay commission report. Up to 1973, the army soldiers did not have any graded pay scales. Their pay was fixed according to chart showing pay on basis of lenghth of service and rank.  This ensured that even if some body is promoted late, he would get the same pay as another promoted earlier but having same length of service. Similarly pension was fixed. The third c pay commission introduced pay scales. The pension is based on average emoluments in the last ten months. The pay commissions revise pay and pension in such a way that new comers gain more. So the old ones are relative losers. It is hence the system at fault and no individual including Indira Gandhi. It is not possible to give link as traditionally, all information about defence even pay scales are considered secret and the literature/ books are not available in market unlike civil books.  OK. It's confusing. Many members posted that Indira Gandhi Govt dropped OROP in 1973.  What about them ? Which is right ? Despite all, we should forget and be glad that the issue of OROP passed on smoothly.

All languages printed on currency notes and given in our constitution are national languages. There is no need to decklare any one language as national language. However if it is considered necessary, Hindi and Tamil both be accoded status of national language.

Here are the features of this program: 25 CC for each 500 points you earn in a month on selected activities No limit on how much you can do All members are eligible, no restrictions on anything And to avoid misuses we have added few terms and conditions. Points earned from only selected activities will be counted CC will be awarded at the end of each month Top Weekly Leaders program will be discontinued after 30th September. We are going to add more activities under points system, so you can see more points for the same activities you are presently doing. This will take sometime but you can see most of them from Oct`15. The points system will be revamped and will be notified to all members starting 2nd week of Sep.  Here are the initial list of activities eligible under this promotion. That's how one can pave the way for a happy life. That is look into yourself and enrich what you have already. Leave the rest.

Good post. But I feel instead of the long list of 50 negative points we should avoid, it would have been better to suggest 5 positive things we should concentrate. It is better to concentrate on what we want instead of what we don’t want.

Actually nobody chooses the waste options. These come spontaneously.  If you don;t select suitable option, the wasteful will occupy the space.

I agree. One cannot be 100% Yogi or 100%Bhogi.. Wisdom lies in choosing  the Best Percentage that suits one's life style.

One knows his/her choices best to his own needs so will leave it on individuals to decide.

In that case I am 90% bhogi and 10% Yogi, that perhaps explains me best.

Things ought to change. Nothing stays forever. This is very much true in the case of technology. Many seniors citizens who used to indulge in Bhajans once have found a new avenue to put their experience and views which they acquired over decades are sharing their views with the world. If you see , many active senior citizens are utilizing the advantage for them.

To be truthful we cannot live in present age unless we are a bhogis. Yogis can survive only in jungles where they do not have to cope with modern day needs and way of life. I can agree to be a yogi up to a point but beyond that living a Yogi life is not possible in cities or one is too old to use or afford the facilities available today (or majboori ka naam.....)

The best thing that has happened with the advent of technology is the way we can communicate with our loved ones. I remember the time we used to depend on telegrams and trunk-calls for communication. Most of the time the calls and telegrams did not materialized timely or the transaction completed after the need was over. I also remember the time when a money-order service to send money from one place to other was such a pain and some times it took months to reach to the person who was in immediate need of money.
