The pension which the Army people received at time was fixed and was 75 percent of the pay for all defence prsonnel which was brought down to 50 percent in 1973 CPC and the civilian people's was raised to 50 percent from 30 percent. The soldiers retired at 35 but their civilian counterparts at 60...hence the equation was at fault (apart from the difference in their duties) ..This was passed in the pay commission.  Is this not true? I'm not blaming anyone for it because a lot many positives were achieved such as increasing the number of years service of the soldiers I think was raised and so on..moreover it was accepted by the top brass also although it has always remained a topic of discontent . The successive pay commissions made a huge difference in the pensions received by the officers and jawans retiring earlier and later. Therefore OROP was the solution to all including the pay difference with the civilians. We should not make it a political issue although the politicians are the ones running the show..they are the ones who decide and most of the time what they do is for their own vote bank and less out of goodwill. The defence should be considered separate and beyond petty politics. It is sad that a soldier has to go on hunger strike to get its dues. The ruling party may have passed it but it would not have been possible if the protests from the veterans and serving officers not been so strong.

Absolutely. I agree with your point that God created the world and man invented killings and barbaric ways to cater to his selfish needs. Hence, to punish those evil doers destruction becomes inevitable.     True...as we all know according to our Hindu philosophy the Trimurti concept that consists of Brahma - The creator, Vishnu - the Nurturer and Shiva - the Destroyer. Here the concept of Shiva as destroyer is not simply destruction, but also as the beginner of new life. Unless the old and unnecessary is destroyed, there won't be place for new. Even in nature we have studied about different ages and eons, once dinosaurs ruled the earth. They were destroyed and then other type of life took birth, so on and so forth. So we have to accept that the life is nothing but a cycle of life and death or rather, a new beginning.

Dreaming is an ability that has been granted to only humans and what marks our difference from other life forms. Dreams are necessary because it is through dreams that we achieve greatness, ambition, innovation. But of course, a person who spends his time only dreaming about things but never takes any steps to bring them to reality, are futile dreams. Such dreams are waste and not ones that are used to achieve things.

Krishna tells arjun to destroy the evil and wrong people with a brave heart. This also bring destruction to thousands of innocent people. To demolish few bad things, was that right to destroy the whole mankind. If God can do any thing, could not he find a better and peaceful way to demolish bad people and bad things.

This reminds me of a Bill board  written in the campus of Eastern Naval command Head quarters in my place Vizag. The Bill board says, "If you want Peace be ready for a war." I'm of the opinion  destruction is inevitable to establish Peace. Soft methods to bring Peace in these Cutthroat world will be an exercise in futility. Can we use soft methods to deal with war mongering Pakistan to establish Peace ?

I agree. In this scenario of selfishness and hypocrisy, Doing selfless work looks like an uphill task. It's difficult. But not impossible.

In the context of Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna that his duty is to fight irrespective of whether he wins or loses. It simply means “Do your duty without being attached to its result”. But outside Gita, it has several interpretations. The best interpretation is “Help others selflessly without expecting anything in return”. And the worst one is “Work, but do not ask for payment”. The former is possible, but the latter is impossible.  Ramakrishnanji, you have given a lovely and simple explanation. In the modern context we can applied it thus, according to my interpretation, work sincerely and dedicatedly, give our fullest efforts and expect suitable compensation in return for our honest efforts. This is with reference to our work we need to do for earning livelihood. Whereas , when we deal with others besides our work, be it friends, relatives, other components of the society, we need to do what is right and do not expect any gains from those interactions, just do what is right . Exactly. To earn our livelihood, we need compensation for our work, without which we cannot survive. Beyond that, in the personal and society level, we can do selfless service without expecting any gains.  And there are great souls who do such works just for work’s sake. They do not even think about the resulting peace of mind.
