They think that is a sophisticated taste to indulge in such activities. in one way as you said its a desperate attempt to be in the limelight.   More than sophistication, it is an attempt of trying to live their own dreams knowing fully well that they cannot do so in real life of their own. So they lap up every bit of gossip and glamour surrounding the celebrities and live that life second hand.

With so many channels, why members are critical of debates on some channels is not clear. Those who do not like shouting, want peaceful discussions which will teach our younger generations God knows what can always watch Rajya Sabha TV, Lok Sabha TV or the Astha Channel or GOD channel and other religious channels. For peaceful news they can watch Doordarshan News. For amusement and entertainment they can watch nirmal baba show or late night astrology programs. Why are they after a few channels showing heated debates I wonder. Ot sounds similar to the veg attacking the non veg., for reasons known and unknown.

It doesn't act like a placebo effect, it is called harnessing the power of the brain. Its for real.

I find it strange that in recent years most of the students are very disrespectful towards their teachers. I don't know the reason behind it but it is very much in practice. Presently, school students address their teachers by their first names in their absence or call them names. This is ridiculous. Many parents do not object to it which is highly unacceptable. What's your opinion and why is it happening so?

Visualizing as if you are relaxing is certainly beneficial. It acts like Placebo effect.

Sofs wrote: Visualization is also an effective technique to relax within a short time. I used to do this when I was working full time. It used to help me a lot from the pressures of work.  Yes visualization of beautiful green nature with cascading waterfalls, or a serene beach or whatever that we love, for a few minutes gives us immense relaxation and restful feeling. We were taught this technique during one of our corporate training programmes.

Visualization of a relaxing, quiet place where I see myself relaxing , happy and enjoying myself. It is the most effective form of quick relaxation that I use in a stressful environment.

Sofs you are partly right but it is a fact that there exists a large cult of people who seem to live on the tidbits and gossips of the lives of various celebrities. These people consist of people from poor to very rich backgrounds, possibly they may be satisfying their own hunger for the limelight and glory that these celebrities get. Human nature I guess!

And then they pay for it big time once the child becomes totally hooked to it and his or her health and social skills suffer greatly! I agree with you. If the parents themselves are addicted to these gadgets who can help the children? Children emulate the parents.

If we think such debates filled with shouting and Din can teach the younger generation something  good is greediness on our part. At the most they serve as an entertainment that leaves a bad taste in our mouth.

Sofs wrote: When one has to shout, he/she has nothing important to say. He/she has to depend on their lung power more than brain power. We can have peaceful debates, meaningful ones and which will teach the younger generations some lessons from what is happening around them. Our approach seems to be flawed.  The only reason I can think for it, is possibly there is simply no fun if such debates indeed were serious and could teach the younger generation something, meaningful things are supposed to be stupid now. The only thing that works is lots of dramebaazi, the louder the better!
