Pawani Dube created new article Building construction site.
A place where labourers work hard and build up beautiful dwellings for us. The view from my balcony enables me to observe the happenings in and around a building construction site and also the living pattern of these hard core workers residing there.Well to begin with, it's morning time around 10.45 am. What all I can hear is irritating sound of various machines which are employed in the construction of the building. There are many more things that I can see, hear and understand by looking at this construction site.
First of all I would like to talk about the greenery all around. The entire construction site is surrounded by multiple coconut trees loaded with fresh looking coconut and a few mango trees as well. The fresh coconuts are so tempting. One definitely gets an urge to drink its blissful coconut water. This place showcases abundance of nature all around it. A place nurtured by nature to the fullest. Enrichment of the trees and the greenery gives you a very soothing feeling. Along with the green life here, a lot of birds add to the beauty of this place and makes it look and sound even more interesting and energetic. During morning time this place looks its best with abundance fresh air, birds chirping, rising sun. It’s very delightful to watch it.
Moving on, since it’s a construction area I can see materials like cement, bricks, iron rods, water pipes, wooden sticks, mud, hammer, ploughs, trolleys, andwooden sticks, mud, hammer, ploughs, trolleys, and many more tools and other things all over. The machines when operated become an extreme irritant for all the people in the nearby residents. The building has completed almost two storey’s. A lot of workers have been employed here. They all are busy doing their work. Undoubtedly these workers do a lot of tedious work and are extremely hard working. While observing them I saw a worker standing at an extreme edge of a rod and managing to do his work confidently like stunt man accomplishing his work also singing aloud with a high pitch his favorite bollywood tracks. Somehow they manage to entertain themselves while working . They talk aloud , sing a listen to music and radio mostly . All these workers mostly talk and speak at a very high pitch. Almost all posses smart phones and whenever they have conversations with someone on phone, its so loud that everyone around the nearby buildings can make make out what what he or she is talking about.
While observing them working , a thought rolled to my mind, i thought this can be the best workout place for some of us who uselessly waste a lot of our energies working out in gyms where actually we do not create anything fruitful. Anyways just a thought ,further would like to talk about the attires of these hard core workers. They are dressed in ragged and filthy clothes, actually this seems to be their working attire. After the completion of their work they manage to wear something that looks a little decent.
Since this is a building construction site project a lot of workers have shifted here with their families. Their wife’s support and work along with these workers too. Its delightful watching them earning and living their lives with dignity. They work hard throughout the day and then like any other working man or woman go back to their home which is actually the same building construction area and some tents build around. At night time all these workers with their gather together at a common place then they gossip together for long ,they laugh aloud , also they listen to music together especially their favorite music is mostly the 70’s- 80’s bollywood music. Together they enjoy and cherish and live a normal happy life despite all the hardships.
These workers make such beautiful and highly furnished dwellings for us. Like banjara’s on completion of one construction project they move to another place with their families in search for a new place to earn their living. Truly these people have a very important place in our society.

MG Singh created new article Muslim Exodus to Europe.
One aspect that has caught my attention is the exodus of Muslims from the arc of nations around the Mediterranean Sea to Europe. The reasons for this migration are many, but basically stem for a desire to lead a better life as the entire Muslim world is in ferment. There is widespread chaos with a internal fight between the various sects of Islam. There is a Shia-Sunni conflict and there is a moderate-ISI conflict as well as a conflict of the Muslim world with western values. All these conflicts have turned the entire arc around the Mediterranean Sea into a war zone. Killings are the order of the day and food is scarce.
In such a scenario it is inevitable that large numbers of Muslims numbering close to half a million will try and escape to places where they can live a secure life. The nearest area for these Muslims to migrate is Europe , which is comparatively tranquil and peaceful. As on date an estimated 200,000 Muslims are braving the dangerous voyage across the Mediterranean Sea to escape to Europe and hundreds have died in trying to make this crossing. I am sure in teh months to come upward of 2/3 million Muslims from North Africa and Middle East will try to escape to Europe. I will not be surprised in case this crosses 10 million in the years to come. This is what is called an exodus and likely to swamp Europe and its way of life.
Europe is itself in deep economic trouble with the EU on verge of collapse and nations like Greece, Italy and Spain on the anvil of a monetary breakdown. As such Europe will not be able to absorb this massive Muslim influx. This exodus also has deeper repercussions and these are rooted in history. For centuries Europe particularly Spain and the Balkans were ruled by Muslims under the Moors and the Ottoman empire. This massive influx is likely to be like a second invasion of Europe and the European powers are wary of this.
The exodus of Muslims to Europe has other portends as well. It is well known that Muslims do not integrate in the society they migrate to. Look at France, which has the largest Muslim population in Europe. Here the Muslims have not integrated with the French society and ideals and have propagated their own brand of life as well as indulged in terrorist acts that undermine the French state. Thus, in case millions of Muslims are allowed into Europe , there is a chance that European society will be cultivating a fifth column. These very Muslims now asking for food and shelter will gang up together to further the concept of a universal Islamic state. At that time Europe will be in great peril and the Muslims will be the greatest threat to European way of life.
I am afraid the choice before Europe is limited as millions of refugees in due course will flood to its shores. It may become impossible to stem the tide I have a l lurking fear that Europe will never be the same again

rambabu created new article Power Of Placebo.
The Trust Therapy
Those were the days of Second World War. Bombs are hurled.Buildings are falling down like pack of cards. Cries of agony, pain and torture are reverberating. Broken limbs, severed heads are heaping up. Medical teams and voluntary groups are rushing in all directions making vain attempts to help those injured in the best way.
In this scenario, a severely wounded soldier, who was on the verge of death was brought by the volunteers. The soldier was hit on his chest and the bullet deeply pierced in to his heart. Without delaying any further, the wounded soldier was taken to operation theater.
The nurse hesitantly whispered something in the ears of the Doctor, who was readying himself for conducting the surgery. The nurse said that the stock of anesthesia that is employed during surgeries was exhausted. The doctor was stunned. It is dangerous to undertake surgery without an anesthesia
But the surgeon recovered from the shock. The surgeon whispered something to the nurse and said loudly, "Dosage of anesthesia should be more, so that the patient should not feel any pain." The patient also heard what the doctor said.
The surgery was completed. The patient despite deep cuts and severe bleeding did not feel even an iota of pain. He felt as if the body subjected to cuts is not his.
But, it was not anesthesia that was administered. ordinary saline water.
The surgeon's name was Henry K.Beecher.
And the process that was involved is " Placebo effect."
What is Placebo effect ?
The word Placebo originated from Latin. It means, " I shall please."
The thought that you took the medicine, gives the same effect as you took the medicine.
Principles on which Placebo effect is based
An optimistic attitude that everything is going to be good.
Surgery is over, now I'll be cured.
Visualizing as if you are completely cured.
With this, your thoughts and beliefs will converted into physical realities and influence your body. Your entire body heals itself on its own.
This optimistic view should be firm and rigid, There should not be wavering.
Placebo effect as a Self Development Tool
Placebo is being used since the World War2, depending on the nature and mental condition of the of the patient. This is one angle. Another angle is instead of dependence on inert tablets and sham surgeries, Power of Placebo can be used effectively as a tool for Self Development.
The power of Placebo is inherent in the humans. "Why this immense power of Placebo should not be used in a more effective way ?" is the question posed by Psychologists and experts.
Here is why, Placebo effect can be used as a Personal Development Tool.
Dr. Joe dispenza, in his book, " You are the Placebo", says proudly, how he recovered through his Placebo power inherent in him.
Your beliefs and thoughts dictate your Brain and body. If necessary, your thoughts can rebuild the system. A new YOU will be built. Power of Placebo instead of restraining to big or small ailments, it should be used as an effective tool for Personality Development. Utilizing the knowledge of Neurosciences, Biology, Hypnosis and other sciences, now many experts are emerging out as " Placebo - Personality experts."
Dr. Joe dispenza says affirmatively whether Power of Placebo is used on a patient or a Success Seeker, the basic rules, Belief, optimism and visualization are same.
Body cannot distinguish between Truth and Illusion
Imagine this.
Inky darkness. You are walking alone. A woman with a hazy and unclear description, hair let loose over her shoulders is following you. Gripped by fear, you started running away from her. running... running... But you could not shed her. She is just behind you. Distance between you and the woman gradually diminishing. helpless and tired, you shriek at the top of your voice and fall on the ground.
You were dreaming. Your body believes what your brain dictates. This is the reason why your body reacts in the same way be it in dream or in real life.
During this period all the physical and chemical reactions in your body take place. Heart beat and pulse rate gallop. All the liquids and hormones that flow in such conditions will flow. Your mental balance will be destabilized. You lose your control on your emotions.
Mental Rehearsal. the panacea to have grip on emotions
As I said earlier, Visualization is one of the main components in Placebo effect.
We know that we are weak minded. Despite our best efforts, we fail to set the things right. We cannot take solid decisions. We cannot accept reforms which are tough. We become so weak minded that we cannot stand against individuals or institutions.
In such situations, Mental Rehearsal comes to your rescue. It rehearsal concentrates directly on your mind. Mental Rehearsal asks you to imagine yourself in a trance like situation in Meditation. This in turn boosts your Self confidence. and removes all your inferiority complexes. It is not all, Mental Rehearsal moulds you into a new entity. A new YOU emerges out of you. your mental rehearsal makes you see the future while you are in the present.
Two examples :
This is a conversation between an Auto driver and you.
Auto driver :You have to shell down thirty Rupee over the Meter.
Old YOU : OK. Here it is.
New YOU : Nothing doing. You want me to phone to Police Helpline ?
Another example :
Boss : You have to complete this job today itself.
Old YOU : Sure sir.
New YOU : Sir , the job is quite big. It's not possible to complete single handedly. Please ask the remaining colleagues also to stay away. If all the hands are joined, I can assure you, job will e completed in an hour.
That's how, Mental rehearsal brings a new You.
Mental Rehearsal annihilates, destroys and wipes off Phobias.
Phobias are meaningless irrational fears. Experts affirm that these phobias can be conquered once and for all my Mental Rehearsal. Owing to religious practicing of mental Rehearsal, one can overcome not only phobias but any adversity that comes in one's way with ease.. These adversities will not look difficult. With this one shoots ahead with courage and conviction.
This is akin to students preparing for competitive exams.
If your will is strong, all the elements in the Nature cooperate with you
These are the words of Ronda Byrne, the author of the famous book " Secret". She says, a strong willed person gets assistance from all the sources. And this assistance starts from within of the person.
Even the heftiest and strong with a enviable height and weight, will dance to the tunes of the Brain which doesn't even weigh one and half Kilos. The necessary adjustments on the basis of your thoughts and emotions will take place in a jiffy.. If your desire is to emerge as a Winner, your brain responds in tune with your desire to emerge as a winner.
Mental Rehearsal makes you ready for facing the exams of Life
We are familiar with the ways of a student who is going to appear for a competitive exam Same is the case with a person before going for a job interview or an Entrepreneur going to meet an investor so on and so forth.
Mental Rehearsal converts your thoughts into action. The idea in your thoughts are converted in to solid actions to handle the exams of your life in a result oriented way.
Optimism, the Mainstay of Placebo
The striking characteristic of any person who strives to keep his B.P under control, controlling the cholesterol levels, abstaining from alcoholism or Smoking is tons of Optimism. These are the revelations and findings of several researches. Now it is a confirmed fact that Optimists live seven years more than those who are not optimistic.
In a study twenty five Optimists and twenty five pessimists were selected for a test study.
" These are the tablets which damage your health badly. But you have to take them." said the team of Researchers and distributed some tablets to all the participants.
After some time, the pessimists became sick. The effect on Optimists was found to be nil.
In another study conducted on a group of Optimists and Pessimists, the Researchers gave a few tablets saying that these tablets will boost your immunity and the resistance to curb ailments.
After some time, the analysis found that the effect of the tablets on Pessimists was almost Nil. The inference is, "people with negative thoughts will be attracted more towards negative aspects and the people with positive thoughts will not be affected by even with strong negative aspects".
Optimism has the potentiality to judge Failures and successes
Here are a few examples to substantiate.
We have seen on many occasions cricketers playing in their Home ground displaying the best Cricket. And on the same ground, they even make the strongest team also eat the dust. This is nothing but Placebo effect. The thought that the fans around have placed immense trust on them, the accolades and honors bestowed after the victory dance before their eyes and do their best to measure up to the expectations of their home fans.
This is true for all cultures. In the Indian culture, the blessings from the parents or from the the well wishers will act like a Placebo effect.A blessing makes the people to rise up to the expectations of those who blessed. The person concerned do his best and gives his best to make the blessings showered on him true.Placebo makes him unearth all his inherent talents to make the blessings of his elders and Well wishers. In this process the immense strength, stamina and endurance required are supplied by the Placebo effect.
Selection of your thinking ways matters
We means our thoughts, our habits.
It is said , on average over sixty thousands of thoughts roam in the Brain of humans. And Ninety percent of these thoughts are the same as yesterday's thoughts.
Every day, we wake up at the same time, go to the bathroom at the same time. Take the bath in the same way at the same time.
Thus, there would not be any change in our daily chores. We do the same things, day in and day out like programmed Robot. It should not be forget that repeating the same action, will never yield a different result. As long as this condition remains, we will remain as frogs in the well. As parrots in a cage. And this remains as our identity.
Hence it is imperative that we should get away from this rut.
Getting out of the Rut - only way to create Miracles
A new idea thought and created will give a new energy. A new experience. New avenues are opened. As the new ideas are born, new doors will open in the Brain.. Functioning of the brain undergoes a metamorphosis. Learning a new language, developing ,creating and acting are some of the ways that rejuvenate and energize your Brain.
A group of scientists from Harvard university conducted a study. For the sake of this study a group of senior citizens were selected. Their average was 70 - 80 years. These senior citizens were taken to a summer resort.
The team of Researchers asked the senior citizens to imagine themselves as 40 - 50 year old. And you should think, act and behave like 40 - 50year old people. Erase the thought that all of you are octogenarians.
Music, Television programs generally seen and relished were kept handy. The dresses along with the color choices were also taken into consideration and kept handy. After the duration of the study was completed, the Research team conducted medical tests. The results turned out to be amazing and astonishing. The findings were enlisted below.
There was a marked improvement in the sight of those octogenarians.
Hearing was improved a lot.
Their standing position became erect.
In tune with their thoughts, their body chemical reactions too changed.
The participants believed the instructions and followed in letter and spirit. These findings established the fact that Placebo effect can do wonders, if followed religiously.
Placebo effect in Real life
It is not necessary to use the Placebo effect to rectify severe health problems or during unforeseen and unexpected crisis. Placebo can be used for solving smaller crises and embellish our lives.
When one starts his day, he can start with a thought that, day is going to become an important and significant Day. This day, given by the creator, I'm going to use in a productive way. I resolve every minute is going to be spent in a meaningful way. I will use this opportunity to develop my mental and physical conditions. Such thoughts will make you see everything with a positive attitude.
The students of Harvard and Yale Universities conducted an experiment on some employees of a hotel, using Placebo effect.
The hotel employees were divided into two groups. They explained one group, in a most effective way that every job they do will reduce the number of Calories and reduces their weight. The researching students also added that the employees will look lean and thin.
The second group was not explained anything. Both the groups worked hard equally. It was found that the members of the first group only could shed away a couple of Kilos.Experts say that it could be possible due to assigning an aim to the brain.
At times it so happens that owing to rain or some unavoidable reason, one may not be in a position to go for walking or doing Yoga that he was regularly doing. In such conditions, if one visualizes a scene as if he was doing Yoga or walking, Happy hormones are released that cause happiness and joy.. This is the opinion confirmed by experts.
Leadership means filling the feeling using Placebo effect in the people that "Future will be glorious". Those who are successful In this process will emerge as the winners in the elections.
The lives of Young entrepreneurs depends on Business Plan.If their Business Plans are combined with Placebo effect, the results will be beyond expectations. The readers of such Business Plans should be able rest confidence and should be able to see the future. Tomorrows results should be made visible through the process of Visualization.
In this way Placebo effect can be employed in every sphere of life for results beyond belief. Placebo effect in this respect is unchangeable.
What your Brain believes, Body also believes
A cowherd took his cow for grazing in the fields. After the cow finishes grazing, he used to tie the cow with a rope to a tree. Nd after his eating, the cowherd goes for a nap. It's only after his nap, the cowherd unties the cow.
One day, the rope fell somewhere. The cowherd was badly awaiting for his afternoon nap.Helpless cowherd has gone into a hermitage nearby and requested the Hermit for a rope, to tie his cow.
The Hermit laughed and said, " Son, I left all the worldly belongings and living in this lonely hermitage. I don't have a rope. But I can help you." Having said this the hermit whispered something in the ear of the cowherd. The cowherd liked the suggestion.
He imagined a rope.. and with that imagined rope, he acted as if he was really tying up the cow. Until evening, the cow did not move, thinking that it has been tied. The cowherd before leaving, acted as if he was releasing the cow. It was only then the cow started moving.
The above incident can be applied to the humans too. If a man believes that his mind is a rope, the rope ties him. If the mind believes that the rope is a snake, it makes him shiver.. If he thinks nothing is there, nothing happens.
Negative Placebo
In Positive Placebo, we mould our Body and mind using our strong beliefs and positive attitude. It happens in an opposite way in Negative placebo. Negative Placebo makes yo mentally weak
A young woman was diagnosed as she is in the initial stage of cancer. In fact, she is not affected by cancer at all. The medical report of some other patient wrongly reached to this young woman. Agitated by this, the young woman, after a prolonged illness breathed her last. She died with the belief that she had been afflicted by cancer until her death.
Negative Placebo will be seen in our daily lives in one form other. We see with suspicion in our office or work place for no reason that our colleague is robbing away our chances for the promotion. Further, we see that all other colleagues are scheming against us. A group of the staff are creating stories against us to the Boss. We also develop a hatred attitude against some other country or some other religion. And owing to this negative Placebo effect, there is a chance of becoming an extremist or a terrorist.
Some more about placebo effect
There is one Placebo effect known as ' Cinema Placebo. Many years ago, a young man was influenced by a Movie called Yogi Vemana, imagined himself as a Yogi and leaving all his worldly belongings became Yogi.
Akin to this, there is another Placebo effect related to Literature. After Reading a Book on Communism, there are instances when many joined extremist or Terrorist groups. All this instances exemplify the Placebo effect which is very much living in humans.
The cultural aspects also have a key role in the Placebo effect. For example, before starting a job, we take the blessings of the elder. This plants a firm belief in the hearts of the people. With this firm belief, we visualize that whatever we undertake will be successful. It;s nothing but a positive attitude. And this positive attitude in turn leads to Placebo effect in our minds.
The Placebo effect is directly proportional to your determination. If your determination id strong, Placebo effect will be both strong and effective depending on whether it is Positive or negative Placebo.
The news we read in News papers or view in the TV Channels, surveys too have Placebo effect.
A study group which was a fake and false purposely made to test the truth behind Placebo effect be it positive or negative effect.
The question given to the participating candidates was, " Girls, exhibited extraordinary skills in Maths than the Boys."
Accordingly a Maths test was conducted. The results have shown clearly, Boys failed in Maths. Thus proving that Placebo effect is true and that the power of Placebo is well within us.
Conclusion
Placebo is well within us. And it can be used to our advantage or disadvantage according to our own will power and positive or negative attitudes.

usha manohar replied to the topic Sleep disorders in children..
Of course it is a psychological disorder that has its base in the home atmosphere . There have been cases where bed-wetting continues even when the child grows into an adult when it is not looked into in the early years. Apnea is another very common problem with children but it normally gets corrected with breathing exercise, unless there is growth or the need for a surgery to correct the passage ..

Sofs created new article Over Indulgent Parents.
Parental over indulgence has become a matter of major concern in these days when both parents work. Parents seem to show their love in a materialistic manner today more than ever before. Giving their children everything they fancy has become a norm now. Parents do not seem to give a thought to whether the child needs it or not.
Overindulgence is often defined as giving more than needed which results in hindering the learning and exploring experiences of a child.
Being a parent myself, I have never given my children whatever they ask for or what ever is the fad at the moment. I only let them have what they need for that age and situation. I have a son who is fourteen. All his friends have fancy cellphones, but not mine. I am glad that his school does not encourage him carrying one too. He goes to school in a van and come back in it. The school has phones for emergency calling. I do not see the need for him to have one. My argument is he will have it when he needs it. Lets not put stuff into their hands and make them dependent on them or misuse them.
Many parents think giving their child everything is love. I am sorry to say that it is not love, but it is what psychologist call over indulgence. Children never learn to use their mind if they have things to occupy them all the time. I know of parents who complain about their teenagers texting all the time on the phone. The problem is not with the phone but with parenting. We have not set the ground rules for the usage of phones nor have we inculcated in the child a certain discipline. If giving everything was love; then love could be bought easily and it would have no value. Love is to equip the child for the future, make him/her a responsible, human being who values people and things in life.
Over indulgence is not giving things alone, its is also over doing things for the child. Indian parents seem to have a knack of doing this, they polish the child's shoes, feed a child who doesn't need any help to eat, doing the child's work etc. All these things hinder the child's psychological and social growth to a large extent.
Having no clear rules or disciplines is another form of over indulgence. I have heard parents says, 'Its okay, he is small' to excuse a child's behavior. This shows the lack of disciplining on the part of the parents. Children needs rules to help them learn acceptable behavior. This sets the foundations for a child's social interactions as he/she grows up.
While indulgence may seem like love, it hinders the child's growth and development. It makes the child highly dependent, selfish and unmanageable as he/she grows up. It is the duty of parents to help children grow into responsible, free and mature human beings. Love your children, don't give them stuff they don't need.

Shampa Sadhya created new article My Real Father got alive through the bollywood movie Piku .
It’s now very much well known that the recently released Hindi cinema Piku directed by Shoojit Sircar has touched every soul. I am also one of those touched souls. Though it’s the entire movie which did touch my soul, I firstly got hooked by its trailer. It instantly connected me with the movie and I felt somewhat nostalgic about the golden years spent with my ever loving father.
I literally craved to watch the movie and constantly nagged my hubby to book the tickets. Just a thought of going to the theatre was in itself an enthralling experience and finally when I finished watching it then I was speechless because of my heart’s boundless happiness. I had read rave reviews and even my loved ones conveyed me their appreciation for Piku after they watched it but my excitement of going to watch this movie was beyond my understanding. I was unable to assemble all the appropriate words to express my excitement. Maybe it was because I felt connected with the trailer of the movie so much that I was expecting my reel experience to mesmerise me by bringing back all the fond memories of my father.
I must say it did not disappoint me rather it would be perfect to say that I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the film although my father was not very similar to Bhaskor Banerjee, the reel father, played by the stalwart Amitabh Bachchan. Interestingly, my father was very different from Piku’s father in many ways but there is one great similarity that’s regarding their bowel movement though my father had his very unique approach towards it. Sometimes his approach to the bowel difficulties made for a great hilarious time for the whole family. At times he was shouted at by my mother, siblings, other family members and obviously I am included too.
My father was an extraordinarily good human being, he performed his role as the chief of a joint family with ease and to had him as father was the most amazing experience in the lives of my sibling’s and mine. He was not a spoil sport and never ever demeaned any of his children neither in front of the family members nor before the outsiders. So, I can vouch that every child would love to have a father of his kind and would feel proud to address that person as ‘baba’ with respect. Oh! I forgot to mention about the relatives, neighbours, acquaintances, domestic help and even the cook who had admired his personality and paid respect at every point of time wholeheartedly.
Actually every child loves to grab an opportunity to express his/her gratitude for the parents and in doing so one forgets to talk about their not so gracious things. As of now I am doing the same thing by highlighting my father’s great qualities and not coming up with the unique stories behind his bowel movement.
Hereby, I reveal that I still very clearly remember that my baba, as I addressed my father, used to visit toilet at least three to four times a day. The number of times had never decreased rather it increased when he went out for a few hours. In the meantime, I must say that I am sharing the story of those days of my father’s life when he was retired and I a grown up daughter. One particular attitude of his was that at 10:30 in the night he used to go to toilet. Sitting idle for some time was preferable than completing his mission toilet earlier than 10:30 PM and then catch a good night sleep. We poked him to go to toilet early and he used to see the watch and decide in favour (occasionally) or against our wish. In fact, we always laughed at him and commented sarcastically that what bowel pressure and 10:30 at night have in common. He never got angry but hardly listened to our persistent request. I must say he was adamant in this regard and never tried to understand why we pestered. He used to take his own sweet time so for the other members it was very difficult to remain awake until he came out of the toilet. Imagine if any untoward incident had taken place at any of the dark nights while the rest of the family slept unaware. The whole family felt very worried because he was on pacemaker.
As we all know that sometimes during a year the mosquitoes have a great feast on human blood. Our home was also not spared by the mosquitoes but my father never felt bogged down by it too. He had his own indigenous method to defend himself and enjoy his mission toilet. My father always lighted a mosquito coil and took it with him to the toilet. Now, I wonder that what would have happened if during those days the coil makers had come up with low smoke coil or no smoke one! Even he had a special chair for his toilet just like the reel father had and in the movie it was described as ‘singhashan’ that means royal chair. Indeed, we treated it to be a royal too. What a coincidence!
I always felt that my father was literally fascinated by worrying about bowel movement and loved his trips to toilet. He was an extraordinarily co-operative person but his mission toilet was an example of his adamant nature though without going into any argument with anyone in the family. After watching Piku I constantly thought that suppose my father had been like the reel father Bhaskor Banerjee then what would have happened to the lives of my siblings and mine.
It is always a pleasure to have one’s father around, no matter what and in my case my father had only one weakness but even for that he never put anyone in trouble. While he was on bed we scolded him a lot when he used to ask for bed pan for quite a number of times each and every day because of his bowel mania but he never rebuked back. I still remember that one morning we found his bed completely soiled and had even pulled the rubber cloth and the bed sheet from under his waist and threw them on the floor. We all thought it was done out of rage maybe because we failed to respond his call during the night. I went a step further, stopped talking to him and for the whole day I did not visit his room. Next day he confided his point of view to me and made me cry. He told me that his act was not out of anger upon anyone rather it seemed he underwent some hallucination. He saw a water body around him and so he threw away his soiled sheets into it. Till date I feel ashamed whenever I recall that moment.
The movie Piku dramatically connected me with it though my experience with my father was diametrically opposite to Piku's. For me the Bong connection was an added pleasure because of my Bengali lineage. The most affectionate portion of the movie was that having so much of difference in opinion the love between a father and a daughter never ceased to exist, daughter’s concern for her father, father’s dependence upon the daughter, even annoyance for each other and irritation at one another’s attitude simply grabbed all my attention. Though the movie ended at a stipulated time but made me not only recall every detail of my life with my adorable father rather I am still enjoying the spirit of it. I even visualized myself as Piku, the protagonist played by Deepika Padukone, and all thanks to Shoojit Sircar for directing such an emotional movie which is lead by motion as the caption of the movie says, motion se hi emotion, which in some or the other way made my dead father alive for me.

Bajirao created new article 7 Weird Manias.
Mania in simple terms means being 'crazy' or 'mad' or obsessed about something. Mania is an obsession, excess enthusiasm, excitement and desire for something. There are several manias people suffer from in today's life, however following list of 10 manias are very weird but many people suffer from it.
Onychotillomania - It is a kind of mania where a person has compulsive desire to pick the fingernails and or toenails. Biting the nails is different than picking the nails. Many of us have the habit while biting their nails while watching the sports or if they are anxious about some thing. We cannot consider this as mania as this is not an obsession. The obsession to pick the nails is so severe in people with Onychotillamania that they don't even realize that the nails are deformed due to biting. Such kind of mania mainly occurs in psychiatric disorder like obsessive compulsive disorder, or seen in people who are going through an immense psychological stress. Several research studies indicate that some people experience pleasure or feel relax after picking the nails!
Pyromania - This is one of the horrible and scary mania. Think about a situation where one sets the fire only for personal gratification! How scary that would be? Pyromania is an urge to deliberately start the fire, such people fail to resist their desire. Pyromaniacs are different from those who set the fire for criminal, personal and monetary purposes. People suffering from Pyromania purposefully set the fire on multiple occasions in order to get intense fascination and pleasure from the fire. Now you might think why would anyone do such crazy things? What would be the reasons for doing such act? There are several reasons for this kind of weird mania. The first most reason is the buildup stress and emotions over the long period of time. Other factors like sexual abuse at younger age, lack of attention from parents or loved ones, and desire to take revenge contribute to the development of this mania.
Kleptomania - Kleptomania is an inability to resist the urge to steal. The urge to steal is not for the personal use or for financial gain but its a severe desire to steal that a person cannot resist. You can call Kleptomaniacs as a 'thief', however such people are different that 'ordinary thief' as ordinary thief deliberately steal things for personal or monetary use whereas such intentions are not seen in Kleptomaniacs. People suffering from Kleptomania are usually shoplifters, they steal from public places, from know people's house and even from their own house. However they do not make use of those stolen items; they may donate or return them back. Once they realize that they have stolen something they feel guilty but they are unable to control this obsession for certain period of time.
Oniomania - Strong and impulsive desire of shopping or buying is 'Oniomania'. In other words it is also called as 'Compulsive Buying Disorder'. People suffering from Oniomania buys excessive and expensive stuffs which may not be necessary for them. Due to such behavior many people go into debt, and financial losses. This behavior may sound very similar with 'Shopaholics' . In shopaholics people buy many unwanted stuff but the desire does not last for longer time. Oniomaniacs will buy anything, anytime to counteract the feeling of depression and loneliness through shopping which makes them feel relaxed. Oniomania is like an eating disorder where people eat with any control over eating; even though they want to stop eating they fail to do so.
Dromomania - In simple terms it is also called as ' Wanderlust'. People with Dromomania has psychological desire to wander and travel long distances. We all love travelling but after certain period of time we all get tired of it and want to stay at one place quietly, however this is not the case with Dromomania. These people travel crazily. They make spontaneous decision of travel and easily move from one place to another, sometimes they even forget that they traveled to a place before. Such people cannot remain at one place for longer time; they are excited to travel and the greatest motivation for them is making more money for your journey.
Ergomania - It is popularly known as 'workaholism' which means people enjoy their work and compelled to do lot more work than required. Such people may not be hardworking but they like to be constantly into the work. Such people would work from 8 am to 4 pm, volunteer in the evening, work during weekends and during vacation time. Such people neglect their families and social life. This obsession to work make them vulnerable to many health conditions. Why do people like to be workaholic? because it gives them satisfaction of doing something useful, gives them more money and more confidence.
Mythomania - Have you seen people making up things or constantly lying? They can be suffering from Mythomania, which is a psychiatric disorder where an individual is compelled to lie, or exaggerate the truth; he does not even realizes he is lying. Such people are unable to differentiate reality and fantasy. Many scientist believe the abnormal brain structure can be the cause of urge to lie. Usually people with low self-esteem would lie to make themselves feel important and attract the attention of people by making up the stories.

usha manohar created new question Has Gandhijis non violent approach become outdated now?.
Gandhiji practiced non violence approach during the freedom movement and it did have an impact on the movement , combined with other revolutionary movements ! However, today we only get to see people resorting to violence and corrupt practices to stay in power. Has Gandhi's ideals become outdated ?

True. Shastriji though small in his appearance was a brave heart who drove Pakistan up to the Borders of Lahore. I agree with your view who roared, "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan" unfortunately is less remembered.

On this day I am poignantly reminded of how far we are removed from his cherished ideals. It is just not deadly conflicts and discord among nations, violence has become the creed even at the levels of families.Just two days back a man was lynched by an insane mob who did not care to know
if he was eating beef or goat's meat and the head of our country who does not even spare the 'Damad' of the oppositon leader on a foreign soil is deafeningly silent on this barbaric episode! Very sickening and dangerous times, indeed! We have no moral to take Gandhiji's name, let us forget Him!!

Very interesting. I was amazed to see his walking habit and the matters related with his brisk walking Especiailly
Mahatma Gandhi walked/traveled almost 18 kilometers a day throughout his lifetime which is enough to walk around the world twice over

usha manohar replied to the topic It can happen in India only!.
There are contradictions in every community and sometimes the fundamentalists do commit excesses which has far reaching effects on the population. We see different religious groups constantly fighting for superiority in other countries too like in Ireland, the entire former USSR region and in Arabian countries.Thankfully we have no such major problem in our country except when minor incidents get fueled by other conniving parties who hope to reap some benefit !

I was surely not talking about form but content.I am not a connoisseur of painting.Did he break any new ground as far as form is concerned like surrealism, impressionism or cubism? There were legendary painters before him and name a single one who took such a crude and perverted view of a religious figure.I am not a believer but how can I arrogate to myself to offend the innermost sacred feelings of another community and in the process most irresponsibily endanger the peace and security of members of my own community.About your defence of him that certain works meant to be strictly private and for a select few,I would term it as utterly ridiculous even Hussein did not take refuge behind such a specious plea! Prove me wrong by citing authentic sources!!

We have no moral to take Gandhiji's name, let us forget Him!!

usha manohar replied to the topic It can happen in India only!.
