Our politicians remember them only during elections or else they are left to their own fate.. Not only backwards and dalits are sufferers, all common person is sufferers. Police is only for politician and influential.    At times I feel sorry for the police force because theirs is not an easy job, they are being pulled in different directions and even if some of them want to perform their duty, they will not be allowed to do so by the law breakers , mainly politicians and their goons. I have several relatives who are in the police force who feel stifled because of the political interference .. True Usha, political interference is the worst of the many things that the police have to put up with. They do not have enough salaries that can help keep them up with the ever-growing inflation, not enough modern weapons and equipment to do their jobs with. The goons and sociopaths they deal with are always better equipped than the police. On top of that, they have to work miserably long hours and cannot give enough time to families, resulting in broken homes and disgruntled children. It is a fact that in Pune and Mumbai, maximum number of police children indulge in crimes at one point or another. So what the state must be in UP , we can only imagine. So t is no wonder that the police take out their frustrations on the innocent hapless in such grisly manner. No doubt police department have maximum interference of politicians. If police man refuse to fulfill the wished of politicians, they may faced many problems. Working enviornment  is also not healthy  in police departments. All states have shortage of police force. All police men are not bad. But they must be understand their duty. Where to go common person? There is no alternative for the Indian police but to obey the orders of his boss.  After all, his job job is his bread winner. In this process, he has to resort to some inhuman deeds, though against his conscience. Right at one stage police man find himself helpless. All are not corrupt, some are honest one. They like to do their duty honestly. In my opinion it is end result of this discussion. Now what to do to improve the police?

Now there is another version of the incident. According to police, the Dalit couple themselves bared thamselves and created scene. This is rather more disgusting.  https://in.news.yahoo.com/dalit-family-bares-it-all-after-greater-noida-police-fails-to-register-their-fir-102750799.html

Too much dishonesty also does not work. One has to be pragmatic enough. Dirung course of time, some standards of bribe or 'commission' are fixed. Giving or taking bribe according to such 'standards' is permissible. But if some body is too greedy and demands more, there is trouble. On the other hand,if some body is too honest and will not work according to accepted norms and rates of bribe, he will be an utter falure.

Amember has remarked that the awards were given by previous government and so why return now to show disgust agianst the present killingsof rationalists and particularly recent killing on rumour of cow slaughter. It is asked what they intend to achieve. Of course, they can achieve northing. The protest is just symbolic intended to pur some moral pressure.  Governmentis as well as the commubal fascist forces are too strong to be affected by such symbolic protests.

The reason behind  writers returning their award is Dadri lynching incident. Though the cause shown on the surface is one thing and the real motive is to defame Narendra Modi's government. It's not out of the place to mention that Modi's silence on  Dadri lynching incident. However Modi breaks his silence on Dadri lynching incident. http://www.firstpost.com/politics/pm-modi-breaks-silence-on-dadri-lynching-says-hindus-and-muslims-should-fight-poverty-together-2461040.html

Sharing a link: http://www.huffingtonpost.in/rajdeep-sardesai/nayantara-sahgal-accepted_b_8255192.html in which the eminent journalist has questioned the award return practice of Nayantara Sahgal as well has sympathised with her too by hitting out at the present government. Here, you get two views.

After reading everyone's comment I can add only one point to it. First of all, I am not sure where Shobha De made that comment, on a T.V debate or in her personal blog, but the article says that she spoke rudely about the Talwars on television. @usha manohar if we believe that a person is entitled to pass any kind of remark about anyone like Shobha De did in her personal blog as you said then @anil is entitled to say what he thinks about De. This is where I want to pinpoint that no one be it popular figure or people like us must not cross the line while sharing our thought. See, how the singer Abhijit termed Ghulam Ali, isn't it cheap? That's the point, I may believe or not believe that parents are the culprits but making them die every day through our comments is somewhere very unethical because we know that our police and legal department fail to serve justice in many cases.

These are the book words and seems very good in the book but in real life its very dangerous because if someone speaks the truth then he/she might be killed, the books teaches us to be honest but the world teaches us to be dishonest.

We see number of such love stories in our area everyday. The only difference is that in your case the boy died but in our cases mostly the girls die. I hope you know what I mean. But I just have a simple question why is that it's always the Hindu girls and Muslim boys? If it happens the other way round too maybe the cases will more acceptable.

Of course it is politically motivated ...But what they are doing is further alienating themselves from the people of the nation. Writers need the support of the people and they have an equal responsibility to the people and nation as citizens of this country ! If they keep hurling abuse speech after speech at believers how do they expect people to be on their side.In a country of more than 90% believers this cannot happen...

What I feel such acts are driven by political affiliations and nothing else. Their only intention is to show the present government in low light.

The film Talvar is supposed to have been made very realistically after interviewing people connected to the crime, some of them apparently not approached by the investigating agencies..However, now with the President himself watching the film, there may be a new twist to the case and the Talvars have already appealed against the life sentence although it has not been heard as yet.. Whether the film and the media reports which go from one end to the other will have an impact on the outcome of their pending appeal has to be seen..Either way there might be a need for more investigation into the case if Talvars are out on bail or their appeal is considered by the higher court !

We have to adjust and compromise at all levels or else you stick out like a sore thumb ! Expecting an organisation to adjust to you is unreasonable unless you have some stake in it ..
