rambabu replied to the topic Stamp collection is an alternative investment..
Philately or stamp collection is no more a hobby. If the stamps are of Historic value or even with some errors, they bear immense importance. Such stamps fetch fabulous amounts at times. In this respect Philately has become an important profitable investment.

Stamp collecting hobby is now going down as letter writing has almost come to a stop. However old stamps are fetching a good value in the market. Sometime back I saw an collection of few Gandhi centenary stamps from different countries being offered at more than a lakh of rupees. There is nothing wrong if hobby can lead one to riches.

vijay replied to the topic Your reputation depends on what kind of people you are working with..
In my initial college days along with some friends I broke the queue to get into a bus but failed to board it. An elderly gentleman asked us which college are we studying in. When we told him the name , he looked at us in a very somber manner and said, students of this college do not behave like this. My college was indeed the best and had a good reputation. Ever since I have realised that the company you belong to also gives you its reputation and expects you to live upto it. So @Kalyani stating that days are over for the company you keep is not right. It surely matters. We all know which party goons belong to, or the corrupt come from or which party members use religion or which institution is respected for its service to the nation and so on.

vijay replied to the topic Should popular personalities judge a person's credibility?.
Frequent Opinion givers graduate into believing that they know everything and start passing judgments which they consider are fair and final. Shoba De has reached this stage some time back. There should be a system whereby such opinion givers should be given complete rest say of two to three months, so that they remain normal. Today electronic mediacan and does influence the judiciary also.

rambabu replied to the topic What is Reflexology ?.
Pressure points in Reflexology and Acupressure are similar. The difference is location of pressure points. Both are very helpful in reducing stress and migraine. These are used in CAM, Complementary Alternative Medicines . Especially in Chemotherapy clubbed with Aroma Therapy.

vijay replied to the topic Writers returning their awards - what do they hope to achieve?.
There was a time not very long ago when we saw in each other an Indian. Today there is a paradigm shift. We see each other's religion and respond accordingly. Whole communities are branded under different labels. Incidents of the past are intermingled with situations of today and sweeping judgments passed. Right of freedom of speech today means my viewpoint prevails. The more narrower the outlook the more effective it is becoming. The writers are protesting against the slaughter of their brother writers and they are being hounded and abused as if they have committed a crime. There is a guilt complex operating somewhere in the extreme responses.

@usha manohar I completely agree with you that Shobha De should not be compared with Khap but by saying this I don't expect Shobha De to speak so bluntly about people. The most important point about such complicated cases is, what you see through your open eyes might not be the truth so why to speak so harshly that if proved wrong then one has to feel ashamed of her spoken words.
Shoba De is a very mature and experienced journalist/writer besides being very intelligent abd very frank in her expressing her views. I doubt if she has spoken in haste and would feel ashamed of her spoken words .In fact yesterday there was a debate on a TV channel about the film Talvar and the same subject which was very interesting and the final conclusion was that Talvars did have a role to play in the murder , because the police IG of police who made the investigations and the CBI both have no doubts in their minds although there are some discrepancies ..

They are similar in some respects. but as far as the location of the pressure points are concerned they are different. Both treatments stimulate these pressure points.
Basically it is accupressure but person who trace new points, give it new name. Our body have thousands points. I know one more, it clap therapy. Claping for five minutes.
Yes clap therapy is another alternative therapy. When you clap, all the pressure points located in the hands are stimulated. It results in normalizing the Blood pressure and strengthens lungs and heart.
Yes clap therapy is very useful in blood pressure problem. I tried it many time. Each I felt relief.
Besides helping in reducing the Blood pressure, clap therapy helps in reducing diabetes, Asthma, common cold and depression. Because in our hands there are several nerves which are directly connected with heart, liver and lungs. By clapping we are stimulating these nerves.
Wow! Clap therapy!
Every time i clap at my home, street dogs come running to the gate thinking i would throw some food!
My in-laws detest noise and they definitely would not try to clap!
It's a matter of choice. If your in- Laws detest clap therapy, they can always try Reflexology, that is application of pressure on the pressure areas located on the feet, hands and ears. Even though they do not have any problem, applying pressure on pressure points is quite relaxing and soothing.
