No wonder. Seeing the old collected stamps will take you down the memory lane. Though I'm not a stamp collector, i have a few Currency notes belonging to British regime. These notes were given to me by my grand father with love. Though I do not remember the British India, I certainly remember my Grand father's love. He was the one who pruned my name Rama Mohan Rao to Rambabu which afterward remained. Such things flood me whenever I see those currency notes by my Grand father.

But in Gujarat the Garbas start late and go  beyond midnight and girls and boys dance almost every night. So holiday can help but there is no demand and it is not an issue.

True. The Gujarati community in AP celebrate Navaratri. There I happened to witness these wonderful dances Garba and Dandiya which are originated in Gujarat. Because these celebrations are done in the evenings, it doesn't make any difference if there is no holiday on AP.

If I recall correctly there is a Dalit Chamber of Commerce and many Dalits have good business ventures abroad and these can also come together to create an infrastructure to help their community. It can sure go a long way.

Sure. Dalits who are well placed and some other educated Dalits need to work a strategy that helps in educating Dalits. Every educated  Dalit should do his part in spreading the awareness about the Social injustice perpetrated on them. And it should made in to massive Movement. If this movement takes off, it spreads like wild fire and spread into the remote villages too.

Lot many parents keep comparing their children with some other child who is performing better and in the process their child develops a complex which manifests into low self esteem mostly.

Although many in the forum are seeing red  in the writers returning their awards, the matter cannot be brushed aside as the sheer diversity and range of writers doing so shows something is wrong and needs to be corrected. Let us not shoot the messengers but understand the message they are giving.

In Gujarat, Navratri is celebrated with great fervour and Garbas and Dandiya Ras are performed to beautiful music beats. Girls are dressed in  colorful lehnga choli and spectators throng to these venues in large numbers. TheGarbas of Vadodara are especially famous. however there are no holidays in educational institutes which looks a biy odd as it is the young who dance late into the night.

The Govt consists of predominantly higher castes who will not be interested in uplifting Dalits. Soa social movement by a dedicated leader can help. Nowadays there are many Dalit industrialists who can also help by setting up good educational institutes to cater exclusively to Dalits. A beginning has to be made.

One must not give up under any pressure but here on this thread the opinion completely differed though some of them are the same people. Honesty is definitely not paying positive returns in this corrupt situation but I would say it's the best policy because it gives peace to one's mind and heart as well as keeps the conscience totally clean. Honesty is not required in work place only but at home, among friends, with neighbours and so on is also very much needed. Dishonesty spoils every relationship so I am always in favour of honesty.    There is a paradox about honesty. even the dishonst expect 'honesty'  from others. A smuggler also likes ;honest enployees'.  In fact, the corrupt and dishonest 'very honestly' share the 'benefit of unlawful income' among themselves.  The dishonest also want to be treated with respect. A customer of mine was once raided by the IT Dept. and a heavy penalty was to be imposed on him. The matter was 'settled' and he was required to pay a few lakhs to a top IT official. Innocently he took the cash to the officer's office and was about to hand over when the officer admonished him and to him to come to his house in the evening. At the house the officer berated my friend for insulting him by coming to his office and showing disrespect to his rank. He was furious and all this happened in presence of his wife. After venting his anger he asked his wife to collect the cash and store it safely. My friend told me that he even had to apologise for his lapse. It had become a routine affair for the officer. Dishonesty was to be practiced with respect and dignity.

Kalyani Nandurkar wrote: Yesterday, I read a column by Niranjan Prakash, a reporter in Maharashtra who gave an account of the initial investigations carried out in the Talwars' home immediately after discovery of Arushi's body and later on, that of Hemraj. Although he did not give a graphic report of the things he discovered (he was present at the scenario) because they are too gruesome and explicit, but as the investigations went on and police kept discovering new things, he says, that 'it completely shattered all the notions of what kind of life the higher middle class people indulge in, their twisted sense of ethics and morality, the very casual way they indulge in extramarital affairs, easy flings etc. etc.' At one point, the reporter has also hinted on the same attitudes having been handed down to the girl in question and the way parents might have behaved upon their discovery that the girl was only doing what she saw her parents doing all the time. The way everything was found, evidences tampered with by the doctor friends of the father, one of whom happened to be having an affair with him, etc. all points to the fact that the murders were planned and carried out with a calm and cool head. Whether the Talwars are guilty or not and that we are wrong to fling mud at them or not, etc. there is a reason for doubt after all. But at least what I have derived from all this is that too much consumerism, degrading quality of life where morality, ethics are concerned is fast taking certain class of India towards decadency and debauchery which leads to nowhere but destruction! If we can learn any lessons from it at all, the time is now!   A TV news channel started a news that Talwars were busy in a party in a city hotel that night (exchange party, if you know what it means) and found out what was going on at their return. They did everything with a clear mind without slightest care/love for their daughter. The news was stopped abruptly which was surprising as news channels do not give up so easily.

he weaker section of the society are always under attack both by the police administration and the society When i comes to Dalits forming a political group, I have my own doubts. For forming a strong political party mere unity is not sufficient. Education is also required. But how many Dalits are there who are educated and are aware that they are being subjected to injustice in all sphere including education ? The help should come from the Government in providing education free of cost. This is again I'm doubtful about.

Circumstantial evidence clearly points to the involvement of Talwars in the double murder. @Usha is right that the Talwars did not cooperate with the investigators. They disposed of Arushi's body with undue haste. Motivated stories are and were planted to save them from the inevitable.

Dalits are at the receiving end even from institutions which are not like the police. The weak are always trampled upon. The Dalits should unite to form a formidable political force. Even if guilty police are punished(usually not)  the mind set will not change.

This shows how cruel the police men are there no a days. I  wish the head of the department should take severe action against such kind of stupidity and arogant and indecent police men.

Shampa Sadhya wrote: @usha manohar In our country in the name of honour killing many parents are killing their child, the most dishonour act though so it is nothing unnatural to assume. Adopted child or not is a different question but one point makes me believe that they were a happy family because none of Aarushi's friends has complained about her unhappiness or her sour relationship with parents and much more. Sometimes an extreme anger may prove to be fatal but still the trial was not properly done to rule out the involvement of others.  I agree that there are a few issues that were shoddily investigated by the police and added to that was the attitude of the Talwars who instead of giving all the facts that would help the investigators, were very  uncooperative right from the beginning. This shows that they were hiding something..

Cheating is different from dishonesty. Cheating means directly cheating people. Being dishonesty mean you won't cheat the people, you just won't be honesty by hiding truths
