Film makers and Scientists have also joined writers in returning awards for expressing resebtment against growing intolerance and communal killings. Unfortunately, it is true that none of them had ever supported Mr.Modi to emerge as Prime Minister. The intolerance and communal killings with the price-hikes in onion and pulses we are witnessing have been managed to create opposition of the Central Government whereas law and order is looked after by the State Governments and the shortage of onion and pulses is also the result of the loose control of the State Governments on hoarding of these produce. Are we not able to give some period more to Mr.Modi for reducing the bad affects of the misrule of the earlier governments? Why are not these film makers, scientists and writers putting up their protests through the art for which they were honoured? Why did they not return during the time of UPA Government when the scam after scam and riots after riots were reported? I feel that they are doing it just for cheap publicity or obliging the political party(s) which had obliged them at the time of giving honours.

I have come across many such articles written about gods and goddesses where the author gives his or her own interpretation , to suit whatever it is they are trying to achieve..

Scriptures are vast and if we go in detail and read between the lines there are chances for different ways of interpretations of the same legend depending on the reader’s analyzing power. And we are lucky that we have the freedom for interpretation based on our own way of thinking, provided it does not hurt others sentiments.

The writer of the article himself is a Bengali Yes many Bengalis are not aware of this dark side of Durga [puja. he says that Durga's image is depicted Durga's complex as fair and beautiful. Whereas Mahishasur in dark complexion. This symbolizes subjugation and suppression of the dark skinned.by the Fair skinned. This in turn speaks of oppression of Dalits by forward classes.

Possibly, the dark side is not known popularly. People just celebrate thefestival and recollect onlythe stories heard in fanily or friend circle. we generally don't go deep in scriptures nor isthis necessary. The scriptures are too vast. If we read these from Puranas, we may spend our whole lives just reading these with noting else to do. any way these are just stories. Need not take these seriously.

The link says about highly respected film Artist like Shyam Benegai and Mathur Bhandarkar are opposing the return of Awards is insulting the people who had seen the movies of these Artists. Both Madhur Bhandarkar refused to surrender their Awards.
But all the while Scientists are protesting against the way in which Science and Rationality are being looked down.
I say for developing the Nation Scientific development is mandatory. And Modi was also professing the need of digitisation for development. Without scientific development no country can progress.

Earlier in another thread related to writers' returning awards I maintained an opinion that there is no wrong in expressing their protest. If they did not do earlier does not mean, they have to be mum now. Yes, if they have any agenda against the government and doing so then it's wrong but at every point if we start asking where were these personalities then it is quite unfair too. Now, the film-maker Dibakar Banerjee was born in 1969 and the Sikh riot took place in 1984, then, do you feel asking such questions make any sense?

Scientists are broadminded persons. They think freely and think about new things. But first writers then film makers and now scientists follow the same procedure looks doubtful.

I read the link article published in Indian express. P.M Bhargava, an eminent scientist returned his Padma Bhushan. Bhargava was the founder director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology. There are no political affiliations. No need to doubt. Additionally, a country where Science and Technology are given Top priority, Economis development will be there. There won't be any unemployment problem. Right now India needs a high degree of Scientific development.
