Dadri event needed investigation and the victims needed sympathy and action. So leaders went there. The awards have been returned by authors, film persons and scientists as a token of protests against killing of rationalists, authors and growing tolerance against religious minorities. There appears no sense in linking this to casualties on border in enemny action.

It is the practice of any dictionary to add to their dictionaries every year a word popularly used. But this time Oxford Dictionary added Emoji an emoticon , a symbol that shows several emotions. This is the first time a dictionary has selected not a popular word but an emoticon.. This emoticon is not going to affect the language in any way. This is in tune with the current trend.
Whether it serves the purpose of some or not in conveying the full sense or not is something different.Such people can use words instead of an emoticon.

Nowadays people are more addicted to shortcuts. They need everything instantly and dont have patience for anything. An emoticon becoming word of the year is a good example for that. I am not telling its wrong. But this is a symbolic representation that we are becoming tech-friendly more than people friendly. In this era communication between people are happening in a second. But whether it is fully expressed, matters a lot. Because of these signs people started using these things instead of using words. Its good to have these kind of advancements. At the same time we should not forget our roots.Words make anything perfect more than any kind of signs that express. Moreover, at the end of the day, we are humans and we are born to speak. So, people should use words and signs like emoticons wherever necessary.

That's not new really! However neither the Brave men , nor their families bother about which politician is there to honour their sacrifices or who protest on their behalf. The Army fraternity takes care of them and the common people have tremendous respect and love for them. People in large numbers gathered to pay homage during Col Santosh Mahadik's last rites. Very few politicians can even dream of commanding that kind of respect. I have known young officers /jawans who made the supreme sacrifice leaving behind aged parents, young, sometimes pregnant wives and very young children and these childern when asked what they want to do when they grow up still say they would like to follow their father's footsteps and join the Army. Col Mahidik's children I believe said the same to the defence minister. What would the politicians gain there??

Very nicely put across. Theory of use and disuse surely works in the Evolution of a language. A phase or a trend may not be permanent. However, living in a digital world , inclusion of pictographs may become a norm and I'm not sure how good that would be for the language! Only time can tell !

I was expecting some of the great Indian writers will come forward and return their awards condemning the attack on Paris but I saw no Jean Paul Sartre lover in the crowd. I think only Dadri wakes them up as it gives them a chance to take the advantage but it confrimed my doubts that it was a sponsored program. I will certainly write an article today but that will not be biased or favoring a particular side.

UN has definitely a role in destroying ISIS. A French sponsored resolution was unanimously approved by UN security council.
In this context UN security Council has called all Nations to redouble and Coordinate action to counter and curb the spread of ISIS.

Does that mean only western countries allowed to retaliate breaking all the rules or saying UNO has no role to play in such cases.

Emoji is not a word but a pictorial symbol but an emoticon.. This emoticon is widely used in social websites.. Because Emoji is not a word, it cannot be found in Dictionaries. If you feel that this emoticon cannot convey the emotions or create, you have other options at your disposal. It is said a Picture conveys more than a word.

Let Mulayam do whatever he likes. Only criteria is his lavishness should be cut and set an example in his simplicity. But where are those leaders who set an example. Hence, we should know that expectations from these leaders is like chasing a mirage.

Our leaders have so much time to celebrate their birthday and that too so lavishly. Check the link:

Politics is always about vote because every politician wants to enjoy power. Usually, the politicians do not care about country and countrymen but have a personal motive and desire which always take them to the voters with whose vote they try to become powerful but thereafter these politicians do not care for their voters.
