Don't we get to see hypocrisy within our families and neighbourhood? Simple example: there are many moms-in-law who feel so proud and happy when their son-in-law addresses them as 'Ma' and so on but on the other hand when their son does the same then usually they do not feel good about it. Even you will find that many families' treatment towards their daughter-in-law on an issue while their opinion differs when their daughter acts the same way on a similar issue in her matrimonial home. Actually, we can witness politics regularly within our families so I think we all are part of hypocrisy in and around us. The link has highlighted a few but there are numerous kind of double standard in our society.

I agree. Corruption in higher levels is one of the many reasons for this disaster in Chennai. Government authorities have displayed an apparent lack of interest letting it simmer for too long.
But, The people of Chennai are fighting back by using whatever means necessary to get through the tragedy. Through social websites people are getting unprecedented funds. Governments of Karnataka, AP, Telangana and Odisha declared their willingness to render all possible help. In AP a Telugu news channel collecting funds from many Telugu Movie actors and Industrial organizations.

It is an undeniable fact that conflicts are bound to crop in married life. The main reason is too many expectations. Someone said aptly one cannot stop the waves, but one can learn to surf.
By Focusing on the behavior of the person, not on the personal characteristics, clarifying what the person meant by their action, instead of what you grasped out of their actions. This is highly necessary, because, your perception of others activities often go in a wrong way. A time to time interactions and dialogues will certainly put the things in the right place.

Not only unplanned development but encroachment at mass scales and government machinery's failure to curve them for personal interest is one of the main reasons for such a mass suffering in almost all Indian cities and towns.

Unplanned development is the main reason for causing unprecedented floods in Chennai. Our Urban planners think of the present population , ignoring the future growth of population and their needs. The planning authorities turned other side when rampant encroachments are taking place. Inadequate maintenance of storm water drains led to clogging of drains with garbage.

We advise people to do the right things. But we never do what we advise. Because, it is easier to advise. So, in a way humans are invariably hypocrite in nature. If Anyone says, he's not a hypocrite, he's the biggest hypocrite.

Yes. The opposition parties are always on the lookout for a reason that defames the ruling party These opposition parties conveniently forget their own misdeeds during their regimes. Hence, these opposition parties will try all the possible ways to smear black paint over the Ruling party. This is an undeniable fact fact.

This is not the first time it is happening in Chennai, I was there in 2004 when something similar happened and almost all the streets were flooded for two days...Then there was Tsunami which consumed half the city and the city authorities have taken no precaution at all. I am told by my relatives who live there that the two rivers which look more like sewers have never been cleared by the city authorities even after the calamities occurred. Now, with unprecedented rains the whole city is sinking ! It must be so difficult for the people ..

In fact a little bit of conflict of interest adds spice to life , also no two people can ever have a perfect relationship since people are different and at some stage or the other some difference of opinion is bound to arise between the two ! If one person is constantly stepping down, with time that itself becomes a flash point..

There is little difference between diplomacy and hypocrisy, sometimes they overlap one another and I doubt any society is free of the two since they make life smoother by reducing conflict of interest in some cases

Actually there is no opposition party , it is more a combined opposition , a hotch-potch which believes in making life hell for the nation by being unreasonable and not letting any important bills passed just to show they can do so!

Well said. Hypocrisy is not just restricted to politicians. You can see a daughter in law lies with Mother in law. Their eyebrows frown, but lips smile.
