Sandhya Rani answered the question Should a child dream to be popular or be famous? .
hello shampa Jee, really a nice question asked......
Both the words, Famous and Popular are similar in many ways, only a slight difference. If you ask me, how would you groom your child to be, I would prefer to said..... I choose "Popular" between the two
Both have advantages and disadvantages. Though we earn a lot of money and become a well-known person through the field of arts, sports etc, it is not necessary that he is a nice person in character too. A person become famous merely because of talent. But with virtue one can become both popular and famous. I would like my child to be called a good person and popular and being loved really by her, than be a famous person, because she can earn it only through the quality she lives in the society. After all we owe something to the society as well.
Let me give one simple example. One gain easy attention if he becomes famous as an actor or model. What for the case of girls???? Though she becomes famous and have a lot of fans, in mind, our Indians will only say bad about actresses or models. Thousand link ups, affairs and dressing etc... even if she is as clear as crystal. Am I not right? It's not applicable in the case of boys.
So I believe it's easy to become famous than popular and many may use short cuts to achieve that goal, that I never encourage.....

How can I support emergency. I am only saying that opposition will behave as opposition irrespective of whether they are sitting on lakhs of rupees or declared emergency. The present role counts.

If they have done corruption they should pay for it. Let a fair trial do it, punish them or free them.

Do you think it is easy task of unearthing money earned by congress leader with unfair means. Leader are not innocent one, they are much and much sly and crafty. Our law also support these. Remember bribe scandle at time of Narsimha Rao government. Narsimha Rao gave bribe Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader to won the vote of confidence. But because of our law they survive safely.

@Anil, then making charges that previous ruling parties are sitting on lakhs of crores of rupees has no meaning. It seems that in India it is the first time there is an opposition party opposing the government. Do you not find it surprising that 45 members are making 282 plus sweat and the supporters are almost pleading that opposition should not oppose but support.

Conflict in any relationship does not arise only due to criticism of one another but there are unlimited reasons which triggers discontentment. It needs to be discussed open mindedly or else it will leave a scar and will worsen with every conflict no matter of what type.

If it's a signal of a disaster what happened on Manali-Chandigarh highway today and another earthquake that hit north India, we should expect worse in near future.

Clash of opinion and understanding within a relationship definitely helps to know each other better. This is really a healthy way to strengthen a bond but the moment people start nursing a grudge against each other in any relationship then it gradually becomes ugly. We all need to understand this that disagreement of thought is not a reason to ruin a relationship of any kind.
yes difference is not a problem but we never have distinction of soul is not good thing.

vijay replied to the topic Lesser known facts of Indian history - Shivaji Maharaj was indeed the greatest of all!.
Hindu religion did not prevent Hindu kings from fighting with each other. There was no Indian nation till 1857 when British brought the territories of today's India,Pakistan, Bangladesh together to form the new nation of India. Why did Rajputs side with the British? Why did Hindu kings borrow heavily from East India Company to fight against other Hindu kings? The India of !947 was a collection of 500 plus kingdoms. The Muslims came from outside and fought battles and won territories from Hindu kings and subsequent Muslim kings. Please do not see past history with todays biased goggles. See and judge it as it evolved. Shivaji, Rana Pratap were great kings there is no doubt about it. But they fought Mughals to protect their kingdoms, winning some and losing some. Rana Pratap's son became the governor of Kabul under the Mughals. They did not fight as HIndus versus Muslims.
Please come out with facts and not the biased versions which have now become stale and are not real. Happy that I could pull in more members of the forum.
