Will the two come together to celebrate a common new year?

Either you are really naive or think others are stupid not to see the intention behind such observations by such leaders. Every few days they come up with such thoughts and then issue clarifications changing their earlier observations.

Here in Mangalore few communities celebrate Ugadi on the 8th of April which is called Chandramana Ugadi which changes each year depending on the movement of the moon. But most of other communities including me celebrate it on the 14 of April which is Sauramna Ugadi, which normally remains fixed since it depends on the movement of the sun which remains fixed .

Now Pope has said that there is no hell fire and there were no Adam and eve. In Hindu religion, there are two sets of scriptures/ books. Some contain philosophy or knowledge. These are Vedas, Vedanta, Meemaansa etc. There are also Puranas, which are stories. There are different characters in Puranas, about which there is difference of opinion. Different sections/ castes believe in conflicting versions. Treating these as tales/ stories will lessen the tension. Also, we can learn a lot even from stories. By treating Ramayana and Mahabharata as stories, you don't lose the capacity to learn from these. We learn much from stories also. There is famous book 'Panch Tantra' containing many stories using animals as characters. The stories were for teaching princes statecraft.
So in effect you will not speak directly when it comes to a certain group, which is clear by your long winded explanation which most of us Hindus already know ! usual double standards !
The illustrations and parables given in all holy books are just stories. It makes no difference whether these are Hindu, Muslim or christian. But all this does not matter. as long as beliefs do not harm, all is okay. But when there are conflicting versions about these mythological figures, conflicts arise. e.g. recent controversy on Durga and Mahishasur. There are some times communal fight among Muslims also on Muharram- between Sunni and Shia. This happens mostly at Lucknow. Such conflicts can be avoided by treating the past as something irrelevant or mere stories so that current generation can live peacefully.
I agree with you and ready to accept what you said but would you please go and say same lines to other religious groups? Please don't tell me you say these things in the capacity of a Hindu because you have said it at many occasions that you have no faith in any any religion.

RSS leadership is absolutely right in his stand that the Saffron flag is older than the tri color since RSS has been in existence since 1925. His statement does not change the realities of today, so why make much of it unless some people see read when they hear saffron !!!

The very fact that the Durga Mahishasura conflict is a recent one shows how divisive communal forces, which also include some so called rationale and self proclaimed intellectuals among Hindus , are taking advantage of Hinduism and bringing in conflict between caste groups, need one say more ..

This is with reference to M.G. Singh's post partly replied by Vijai. The Muslims in India do not want sharia law. The question of uniform civil law is irrelevant. On all common issues, we have same law applicable to all irrespective of religion. In Manusmriti, there was different punishment for same crime depending on caste of person involved. Even in sharia criminal law, there is no discrimination. I do not support introduction of sharia as well as Manusmriti. No Muslim has demanded introduction of sharia.
We have to distinguish between common law and personal law. The common law pertains to crimes, property disputes, business transactions. The code of criminal procedure, Indian Penal code, Civil procedure, business law- these are same for all and hence there is already uniform law.
But personal law is different. Personal is really personal and so there is bound to be difference. Personal law is about various rituals on birth, marriage, divorce, succession and other matters concerning community only. There is no uniform civil code even for Hindus. There is Daya Bhag in Assam and West Bengal whereas Mitakshra in rest of India. There are also separate law for various tribes. Personal law depends on customs and rituals of a community. You cannot bring common civil code even for Hindus- not to speak of Muslims.
Incidentally, common civil code, Ram Temple and special status of Jammu & Kashmir were very favorite issues of BJP/ RSS but now as they are in power, they have forgotten these. any way, I welcome this.
Now the question, Wwhy I don't comment on Muslim League. Now this does not seem relevant being a historic matter only. Presently, there are some Muslim outfits like MIM led by Ovaisi. But Ovaisi has not said anything anti national. His energy is diverted simply to retort to provocation by Hindutva forces.
As regards the plea that India can be secular even as Hindu nation, we must remember that India has very sizable minorities who will not accept this plea. There is also no such need. You can follow your religion personally and worship as you please. However, if you wish that some religion be state religion, we have already one-- Budddhism- as the national emblem- forur lions with words 'Satyamev Jayate'- is from Sarnath. Practically, you begin even the official function following Hindu ritual like performing Yagna and breaking coco nuts. If you wish you can still believe that there is imprint of Hindu religion in all our activities. even Sonia Gandhi begins her election campaign from temple visit. What else you want.
Now why RSS is fascist. You need go through 'Bunch of thoughts' and 'We- our nationhood defined' to realize the fascist character of the organization. They are nor so much pro Hindu as Anti Muslim, anti Christian, anti Communist and now anti any thing that is progressive and liberal.
The latest wisdom from RSS leadership is that Bhagawa is better our national flag as this was even before Titanga. I am waiting for next statement that Manusmriti is older than current Indian constitution and so why not treat Manusmriti as Indian Constitution.

Any organisation or ideology is bound to have some pros but in communism it is more cons than pros that led to its downfall worldwide...One can also see how in India's context how our erstwhile leaders like Nehru were perpetually in a confused dream world thereby making a mess of the nation and communalising it because of their failed policies which were neither communistic nor capitalistic nor wholly socialistic !!!
