Well, in most of the function do this, as they feel, every person whom they have invited should be satisfied with the program and the lunch or dinner or whatever treat they give. So this is some thing caring. This is there from roots of India. For this, we should not as annoying. There are 2 methods are there to handle this situation which i apply. one - if anyone fill my plate as u told. I just eat how much i feel like eating. and 2nd one, i have all dishes little in my plate so that the host should feel my plate is full and then i will have what ever i want and how much  i want. :)

During feasts on the occasion of marriages or Birthday parties, guests vie with each other to reach food kept on the table. In this process, some do not hesitate to create stampede  These people act like hungry wolves. This habit really irritates me.

I visit Bangalore almost every year to visit my daughter. Earlier it used to be known as city of Gardens. Though it is the fifth largest city in India, Mysuru is the cleanest city according to recent surveys. What I want to impress upon is, keeping the city is  a joint venture. . . Government alone cannot deliver the goods. People should lend their support to the Government's initiatives. Swatch Bharat is initiated on the principle of " Cleanliness is next to Godliness. "

@Usha without contesting your observations on BJP cleaning your city I would like to state that I distinctly remember being very impressed by the cleanliness I saw when I visited it in 1992 or 93. I do not know who was in power then but I feel it was always a cleaner city due to its citizen's awareness and habits. Politicians are only basking on its glory.

An emerging annoying habit is the increase in number of two wheelers coming in wrong direction and when they come directly in front of your vehicle they will give you a broad smile!!

The present government is not able to catch those who raised anti India slogans in JNU and those who every Friday wave ISIS flags in Srinagar. See how they beat up students for waving tricolor in NIT campus in Srinagar. So do not be over optimistic and stop being a pseudo nationalist /secularist in company of other such person's. Division of India is not a child's play to happen. There real nationalists and secularists  will not allow that to happen.

Some one raped her. Now she is adult or juvenile?   Even though this woman is adult according to the age, she is not in a sane state of mind to understand between right or wrong. Person who took advantage of her should be punished, it doesn't matter she whether she is an adult or juvenile, but  she is surely a victim. Very true, it is not the age of the victim that matters but the kind of outrage committed when it was quite evident that she was totally helpless, that is what makes the crime worse.

As such the law also must change.  As I have pointed out the age of a juvenile is now 12 years in the USA, because boys of 13/14 are killing people with guns.I remember reading that a 13-year-old boy was recently sentenced to 25 years jail for a murder with his father's gun.  In India also, a change is called for.  No doubt young of this era is smart and mature that earlier. But it is not fair to compare young of India with USA. Culture and tradition of USA and India is much differ. To an extent I agree, but we have to accept that due to globalization, the lifestyle of people in USA and elsewhere is a big attraction for people in India and the children are not behind. They are exposed to violent cartoons, movies and are turning down Indian values, of course, they alone cannot be blamed for that. When parents are busy running behind money, they hardly have time to see what is happening in their homes. Look around and see how most children and teenagers are so self absorbed in themselves, they want only branded clothes, latest smartphones, and want to start dating even before they start earning. Starting from common thievery to rape and murders, you name it and Indian children have started indulging in them all. Time is not far when they will start shooting others in schools and other public places if not addressed on time. Kalyani, Shooting cases may not be rampant but nowadays some such cases are taking place. I have read about such incidents in the newspaper involving teenage boys in Delhi. To an extent parents are to be blamed when such incidents take place among the boys from middle class families and high societies. Parents are giving every kind of liberty and expensive things to their children to show off their standard but on the other hand they are ruining the future of their children by exposing them to all sorts of unwanted things which rob their innocence. True Shampa. I also feel that parents' inability to cope up with fast changing atmosphere leaves them in confusion as to how to deal with the changes on one side and with their children on the other. There are ever increasing reports of underaged children being caught redhanded for robbing hi-end bikes and using them to show off to others. A couple of teenagers were caught who indulged in stealing monograms from luxury cars such as Mercedes and BMW etc and selling them for quick profits. In all these instances, the children from either lower middle class to lower income groups and they just wanted to experience glamorous lifestyle. Also, in the last 8 days in Pune, many residential areas are falling prey to vandalism and arson where antisocial elements are setting fire to two wheelers and cars in the dark of the night. By today's count., more than 100 twowheelers and 20-30 cars have been burnt down until now and involvement of teenagers in this arsonism is also quite evident. I am also a mother of a teenager and really very much worried about his future. The present scenario is so frightening that one has to be very watchful because negative traits attract the young minds very quickly. By the way, about the Pune incident I want to know what is the reason behind such vandalism? I hope our lawmakers stop giving blind look towards the juvenile crime and take a stern step. If it's not done now then India's future is doubtful. THe reasons for such vandalism are many including revenge for petty slights, hurting egos etc. and one incident was a result of a disturbed psychotic mind! Truth is, as a mother of an 8-year-old, I too am worried the kind of exposure he is liable to be exposed to and what kind of reaction he will show et.c But the best we can do for now is keep talking to them about such things, discuss the reasons why people behave in such manner and what choices we as persons can make, etc. and hope for the best! Kalyani, Thank you for the information. Yes, you are right that we should have an open communication with our children. Talk to them regarding good and evil both according to their age and always show them the good and bad effects of the various deed. Hopefully, if we continue to remain positive and guide them in a positive direction then God will never dishearten us and our children will follow the right path!

However, my own town has undergone a lot of positive changes with the initiative of the local BJP MLA and MP who are both doing a great job in keeping the city clean and it is the 4th cleanest city in India now. I see even Bangalore is being cleaned up so also some smaller cities and all this is taking place after Modi came into power. Singapore and UAE as they are seen now are the results of decades of hard work and dedication, while Modi has only just started. He has undertaken the monumental task of cleaning up decades and decades of dirt, trash and even worse, most unhygienic habits of spitting and defecating in public places that are ingrained in the blood of majority of Indians. Expecting spotless cleanliness in just two years is totally unfair. But what is worth applauding is the degree of awareness that is being felt and more and more people and institutions are joining the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and slowly and steadily, results can be seen. But if we wish to see India as clean as Singapore or other countries, we need to be patient.

usha manohar wrote: In today's scenario one cannot function without multi tasking because you have to take care of so many things - home, work, other work , personal work..I automatically think and plan on doing at least 3 jobs at the same time in the morning , like running he washing machine, making tea and cutting vegetables or fruits as the need may be, or washing utensils ! I am sure most working women would do this because you are perpetually in a hurry !   That kind of multitasking is vital for today's women. After waking up in the morning, first things that I have to do are start chopping onions, veggies etc. for the tiffin box as well as for breakfast, at the same time making tea, heating up milk etc. Similar things repeated through the day, even at night while watching TV, I am either planning for next day's meals or cleaning leafy veggies or other stuff, peeling garlic etc. Multitasking is essential, and I think doing all these things by ourselves involves not just alertness of our brain but also fine motor function of our nervous system, which keeps us quick and alert  in the mind.
