Please do share a bit more about his books and style of writing.     Some time back I read one of Iyer's books although my memory is very sketchy now. It was a novel about Cuba and Havana called Cuba and the Night ! Was good...I started another and left it half way through because someone else borrowed the book The Lady and the Monk, have still not got back that book. I tend to compare him to Vikram Seth, very similar writing and narrative styles. His father Raghavan Iyer was also a highly educated and qualified person, also wrote some books on politics and philosophy if I am not mistaken,, I have never read Vikram Seth too so don't know much about it, although I have read reviews about some of Pico Iyer's books and they are really good. I checked out our local library but unfortunately, they don't have his books and also had not heard about him. So I am going to buy his books now. Vikram Seth's books are very interesting and very detailed Kalyani and quite voluminous. I have read two of his books A suitable boy which won the bookers award and its sequel A suitable girl. I like the first one better because it is set in the late forties and early fifties and a love story during that period has certain limitations ..quite interesting ! Thanks for the info, will definitely look it up at the library.

Going by the way Swamy puts out all his guns while speaking about the congress and Gandhis, this one is going to be very interesting . But whatever the manner in which congress has earlier tried to douse fire on the Augusta Westland scam, this time it is not going to be so easy to bury it up. Say thanks to Italian court otherwise it will never proved by Indian courts.

Will put out link to full interview @IndiaToday No doubt defense minister, Antony and PM Manmohan Singh involve in this deal but it is believe they were not involved in bribe dealing. Indeed mother and son used soldier of Man Mohan singh for their every fire.

Right. But, none should speak about the issue. Though I had given you the source of the news, you did not stop your own typical biased views.

vijay wrote: The order was cancelled. Also the names of bribe takers is not coming out although Italian court has given a judgement. This is a bit surprising as they can be made public in Italy as in India there may be some legal issues involved in doing so. It is right that deal was cancelled, but why?

Are the leaders only to be blamed for the feudal behaviour of supporters and others. Is not our society responsible for such behaviour and it is from this very society that leaders emerge. Why should they be any different because they have become leaders.

I still maintain that the Italian court has not stated or named  those who received the bribes which have been surely paid. There is no doubt about that. Some person is talking or communicating to someone about Sonia, then Pm, Ahmed Patel etc about their status and abilities about the deal. Based on these inferences are being drawn but the court is emphatic about who paid the bribe but not who took the bribe. Yes let more muck come out so that things become clear.

Modi Government should do whatever is within its purview, to end this nonsense once and for all. Otherwise, this plague called Congress will continue and block all the Good works, it intends to do. Earlier the better.

"The problem with Sonia and Ahmed Patel's combativeness – asking why the Modi government didn't take action against them in last two years – is that the controversy around their name has erupted now because their names have recently figured in an Italian court judgment where the bribe givers have been convicted. If the Modi government had indeed come out with the same findings before, Congress would have cried hoarse – accusing them of vendetta politics. Not that it is not charging the Modi government of vendetta politics now; but it's not cutting much ice in the public perception. Now that the scam has erupted in the public domain, the Modi government appears keen to pursue the case with a certain vigour. Yesterday, the BJP parliamentary party was briefed on the subject by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The CBI has asked the ministry of external affairs to get authenticated papers from the Milan Court for further investigation." source : firstpost

What is extremely shameful is that inspite of knowing that this is probably a bigger scam than Bofors, the entire coterie surrounding the mother and son try every means possible to defend the culprits...They have to first answer why her name has been mentioned by the Italian court if she is not involved and so do the rest http://www.firstpost.com/politics/agustawestland-case-congress-bjp-sonia-gandi-rahul-gandhi-scam-chopper-deal-gandhis-modi-ahmed-patel-2752094.html?utm_source=FP_CAT_LATEST_NEWS

Leaders of all the developed countries have their head on their shoulders not in the sky unlike ours. This is the case in almost all developing countries in Asia or South America or Africa..Honestly, you don't know who to blame and it is disgusting to see people falling all over , when a minister comes as if they have no dignity or self respect..They of curse look through people as if they don't exist except during election  times..One of the ministers here  named Roshan Baig, corrupt to the core was supposed to have for drought inspection and to distribute the relief. He apparently went by jeep and took a round and then came back without speaking or getting down from his jeep, so the villagers were very angry ..Unless people unite and teach them a lesson they will continue to think they are feudal lords !
