They were selling themselves then and selling their book now. They all are same and as the saying goes "everyone is naked in the bathroom or is it under the clothes!" Everyone enjoys when the going is smooth and it doesn't take them long before they cringe for smaller things because they didn't get them. It will be the same in coming years too and tilt the balance.

Why not ? petroleum and diesel are sold in black market. Several incidents came in to the light, where adulterated petrol and Diesel are sold by the Bunk staff. No fool proof system could stop these practices. Even if petrol is sold at higher prices, it's Ok. But we are getting adulterated petrol even after paying exorbitant rates.

Of course. Isolated cases will not give any clear idea about the general behaviour of the people.. If that change in general behavior changes, there is nothing like it.

75% dependency on crude oil imports has not led to black marketing. Fool proof distribution systems have to be created.

Mallya is a defaulter but he made money not through corruption because he had a legitimate business. We should not confuse issues here since there is a difference between making money through corrupt means and defaulting ones payments ..

What I said was, dependence on other countries will add more burden on a commoner. It paves way to Black marketing on pulses.

The nature and attitude of citizens needs to be changed to one of cooperation and helping fellow citizens. Isolated cases do not speak for the whole population.

I agree with you. Margaret Alva should have written her book 'Courage and commitment' when she was in power. It's a wrong time she has chosen. It makes a difference. Otherwise her book is nothing but an Autobiography.

The pulse of the nation goes up when prices of pulses go up. Self sufficiency is Ok but should not be a compulsion. After all we import 75% of our crude oil and it is a smooth operation.

The whole concept of food production has undergone a change in the country. For example in my own place which was more than self sufficient in growing rice , now because of urbanization and lop sided preferences by the government , we can see that most of the paddy fields have been converted into house sites or used up for widening roads or commercial buildings . The agriculturists have been hit because they receive very little compensation.
In Mangalore traditionally rice was grown twice a year and pulses in between the paddy season. Now with almost all fields within the city gone, people are forced to by from shops. What was once a city self sufficient as far as food grains and vegetables were concerned has now become dependent on others. Prosperity has its own price to pay. I am sure this is the cae in many smaller cities and no wonder with a growing population we face a scarcity of food grains.
Urbanization is not problem of your city, it is problem of every city and towns of India. India is at second position in population but it have not land accordingly. It is time think about urbanization policy. Government must be stop construction of single story houses.
Change is universal and people too change their tastes and food habits accordingly... If Lentil and Pulses is too expensive and not enough is grown here then you shift to something else or add on other food stuffs that is easily available that is equally nutritious. When we make changes , we should be ready to face the consequences as well..

The issue is that if one felt wrong was taking place but continued with the system and gained position and power. That means it was OK to continue association with such elements or events. But when nothing is to be gained then write everything and expose the very persons from whom you had no qualms to accept favors knowing they were not so clean. It is not about Congress leadership, it is against one's own involvement and changing attitude at a later date. What is the difference?
