Everything should be used as it is meant to be used. In my own case and my children , we carry our kindle while travelling or want to flip through the various books while sitting outdoors etc...Most of the time I prefer to read a book !

I guess there is no end to these inventions and from what I have heard and read some of the escapades have ended dangerously with people getting hurt, beaten up because they discovered a drug haul and what not..On the other hand if it is holiday time and if you play it with a group of friends as a fun filled outdoor activity it might be exciting. One should not get obsessed to the extent your entire life revolves around it !

To be very frank, I never heard about this game. Because there are no youngsters in my house. If this game endangers lives of youngsters as expressed by the other members, then the Parents should take care not to allow the youngsters to use this game.

It doesn't matter, if one is an Extra or Established actor. Only thing that matters is One should have that humane quality to lend a helping hand to those who are in distress.

But this is far more dangerous than just taking selfies. Here the danger of getting addicted to a mindless game is more with children forgetting to do everything else and seeming to bother only about finding the virtual monsters.

I used to read paper books. But now I am more comfortable with reading sources on internet. But this is not material. The essence is that reading is enjoyable. You may read paper book, or on Kindle or some other medium. This is just like travel You may travel by road or air- train or bus, the aim is to reach destination.
Being rigid about anything is a negative aspect ! One should adapt and experience before passing judgments ! Reading is enjoyable no matter what means you do it through ..
True...so long as reading is enjoyable and comfortable, it does not matter what type of book or material it is. I personally do want to get a Kindle but the only thing deters me is my son, I try to keep him away from smartphones and getting yet another electronic gadget will create more chaos. I already have enough chaos at home at times trying to wrench the phone away from him! LOL
The little ones these days start very early to use the electronics media , as early as 3 or 4 years..I feel that they should be allowed to use in a trained manner because at that age they are very impressionable and raw and will not go overboard . They also become so used to them that they take it in their stride rather than get addicted to it at a later stage like it happens with many teenagers..
As far as kindle is concerned, the added advantage is being able to adjust the size of the letters to suit you . However i dont see why reading from kindle should mean that you dont read books or vice versa .
That is true, I agree that keeping children away from electronic devices will serve no purpose and I do let my son use the phone and spend time on computer. He already likes to search and learn more about his favorite topics, favorite book characters etc. But the reason I am wary of kindle or similar device is because I am concerned of blue light from these devices. And not having a kindle does not deter me from reading books, I like to buy physical books for my collection or borrow them from the library or friends etc.

Especially this bit,
The use of light-emitting electronic devices for reading, communication, and entertainment has greatly increased recently. We found that the use of these devices before bedtime prolongs the time it takes to fall asleep, delays the circadian clock, suppresses levels of the sleep-promoting hormone melatonin, reduces the amount and delays the timing of REM sleep, and reduces alertness the following morning. Use of light-emitting devices immediately before bedtime also increases alertness at that time, which may lead users to delay bedtime at home. Overall, we found that the use of portable light-emitting devices immediately before bedtime has biological effects that may perpetuate sleep deficiency and disrupt circadian rhythms, both of which can have adverse impacts on performance, health, and safety.
My son prefers books to Kindle. He likes to flip the pages as well as the smell of a book.
Really glad to know that he likes books. My son is asking for a kindle out of the novelty and the great ad we see on TV. but I have clearly told him that he won't be getting a kindle before he turns 18.

Of course, Tendulkar's request to help his friend hasn't been granted by the Defence Minister, as the said land is located in an area earmarked for a Defence training school.

True...I too am a fan of Tendulkar but he has been known to take advantage of his position every now and then. Few years ago, he refused to pay and got the taxes waived off of his luxury Ferrari car. Now this. While in reality, people like him should be more willing to pay their taxes on time and not taking benefits because that would mean money taken from other people in not so fortunate conditions. But they feel like they are gods or something and have every right to being treated differently.
