Oh, it is very similar to the tamaring saar that we make, but we add jaggery too and coconut milk if available and as per individual preference. Coconut milk is optional, the saar tastes lovely without it too. We too make something similar except that we add pepper powder and roasted Jeera powder instead of red chilly powder and add crushed garlic while seasoning.. It is very tasty and feels good when you have a runny nose and chest congestion !

Rafi's songs are all time relevant. If you hear songs like 'Baharon Phool Barsao... from the Movie Suraj, you will feel as if , it was composed and released today. Another unique trait in Rafi's voice is adaptability to suit  the voice of the actor for whom he is singing. For example ,If you hear 'Sar Jo tera Chakaraye, picturized on Johnny Walker, you feel as if Johnny Walker is singing

It is wrong to say that AFSPA and Martial Law are similar. This is highly misleading statement. AFSPA is necessary to protect the Armed Forces personnel from prosecution because they are fighting an enemy within the borders and not on the border. In doing so there can be some collateral civilian causalities. The army does not run the civilian affairs. Misuse of AFSPA is to be checked and punished.

Listening to Rafi does not give you the feeling that you are listening to songs sung 40-50 years ago. They seem relevant today also. That is the magical quality of his voice.

By virtue of special powers vested in armed forces, there is virtually martial law in Kashmir and some other parts of country.  Incidentally, there is no mention of Martial law in Indian constitution. Our neighboring country, Pakistan had Martial law many times but this is by way of coup and unconstitutionally removing a lawful govt.  This virtually means that the elected govt. is forcibly removed from power and replaced by military junta.  In appropriate circumstances, there is provision of proclaiming emergency- external aggression, internal disturbance, financial crisis.  IFSPA and Martial Law are one and the same ?. If so, before imposing Martial Law, has the Government obtained the approval of the president? I understand, without the approval of the President either Martial Law or IFSPA cannot be promulgated. Please clarify.

sarala wrote: Actually Mohammad Rafi used to sing songs by seeing a begger. At that time he is a little boy. Once he sang songs for fun then he got an opportunity to sing and give audition. So immediately he went to mumbai and gave audition and even got selected. but he has no money with him after got selected. When this was known by his boss, his boss asked him why don't he ask money then Rafi said there is onemore line left to sing. Till the song complete i cannot ask money. This impressed his boss and he paid rafi with full amount. This reminds me  a famous song sung by  Rafi and Aasha in the movie Vachan. Busic composure was Ravi. The song was, Ek Paisa dede Babu, O jaanewale Babu...
