One of the cruelest groups of Fifa World cup 2014 is Group D. consisting of three former Fifa Champions: Uruguay, England and Italy. The fourth team which will fight against these former champions is Costa Rica. Uruguay is one of the underdogs of the Fifa 2014. They will try to create major upsets this time around. With the emergence of Luis Suarez, they have a great chance in this world cup. Teaming up with Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez makes Uruguay, one of the lethal striking forces in this world cup. We all saw, what Diego Forlan is capable of, in the last world cup, in South Africa. Suarez scored 31 goals for Liverpool this season, helped Liverpool to finish just behind the champions Manchester city. He is in terrific form hence; he can create a stir in any defence of the world. The only weakness of Uruguay is their defence. They had a very poor run in defence in the recent times, having conceded 25 goals in the qualifiers, will mean that they are beatable in this group.
Coming to the English squad, they have a young team this time, with the presence of veteran Wayne Rooney, the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Luke Shaw can blossom in this world cup. Now, talking about the Azzurri, they have won Fifa world cup four times only behind by the host nations, who has achieved this feat five times. Though, last Fifa world cup in South Africa was a nightmare for all Italian fans as they could not even enter in the final 16. So, they would be eager to do well this time around. Mario Balotelli and Giuseppi Rossi will be the key players for Italy, if they have to do well in the Fifa 2014. Italy has been consistent since the last world cup. They did well to finish third in the confederations cup, only behind Brazil and Spain. So, they look set to enter in the final 16.
Costa Rica will be happy as they are going to start as the underdogs in this group. The line up of Costa Rica is not star studded but, they have plenty of positives which can torment the oppositions. They have a strong final line of defence in the form of goalie Keylor Navas. He has done extremely well to have 7 clean sheets out of 14 in the qualifiers. With the likes of Bryan Ruiz in the team, they are not going to that easy for the former champions.
