IPL1 vs. IPL 2
Hi friends, here we will discuss about the chance of Pakistan players playing the IPL third season. I believe most of you, like IPL, because of its franchise format .From my point of view, the inaugural season in India was the best compared to that of the second season in South Africa. This doesn’t mean that I hate the second season, but the excitement and the thrilling matches played in the first season was really missing in the second season and another important factor is the absence of Pakistani players, and we can say that excitement level in the second season would have been more, with the inclusion of Pakistani players.
Absence of Pakistan Players:
The absence of key player like Sohail Tanvir, who won the purple cap for mist number of wickets in the inaugural season, Misbah Ul Haq, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, and the all rounder Sahid Afridi does have an impact in the second season as many Pakistani fans, who followed the first season with lot of interests, lost interest in the second season, due to the absence of the Pakistan players. We can argue by saying they contribute only less population and it doesn’t matter I they didn’t watch the second season, but still as a sports, particularly cricket fans, we must not bring politics into sports and this will still creates hatred between nations.
Pakistan Cricket Board suffered a heavy loss due the cancellation of 201 Cricket world cup in Pakistan, after the attack of terrorists on the Sri Lankan players and avoiding the Pakistan players fro the international level competition will still hurt them. Even before IPL 3, in the Champions league the Pakistan National T20 champions were not invited and they were replaced by the IPL team Delhi Dare Devils, who finished thirds in the second season. According to the earlier plans, 2 teams from India, Australia, South Africa, England and one team from New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were scheduled to play the competition, but due the cold war between the two countries, Delhi participated in the event instead of Pakistan team.
Pakistan players in IPL 3?
Will Pakistan players play the third season of IPL? I guess this is really a toughest question and it all depends on Lalit Modi, the chairman of the Indian Premier Player. But, now the true situation is that the participation of the Pakistan players in IPL 3 is not even in the hands of Lalit Modi and it all depends on the Auction, which will take place in January 2010.Earlier Pakistan players were asked to get the approval from their board and also get the Visa’s from the Indian Government.
Lalith Modi has set a deadline for this and later he also extended 10 days. But the 4 Pakistan players failed to meet the deadline. December 7 was the deadline set by IPL, and the players failed to get the visas from the Indian Government. As the Pakistani players failed to meet the deadline, all the franchises have decided to go for the backup players. The four Pakistan players who may miss the IPL third season are,
Umar Gul – Kolkata Knight Riders
Sohail Tanvir – Rajasthan Royals
Kamran Akmal – Rajasthan Royals
Misbah Ul Haq – Bangalore Royal Challengers
So instead of these players the franchises have opted Rudolph Van Der Mere, Johan Botha and others. So there is a high probability that Pakistan players might miss even the third season of IPL.
But we would have seen the recent news, which says that the Pakistan players may miss the IPL three, in spite of getting the visas form the Indian Government. So now the only chance for the Pakistan players to participate in the IPL 3 is that they have to participate in the auction, which will take place on 19th January, 2010. So to participate in this auction, they must apply for this before 1st January 2010. Let us hope that a good deal is done in the auction (as a matter of fact Cricket has become a great business in India).
To conclude, as a sports fan let us hope that, politics should not interfere in games and let us create a chance for the peace process to begin between the two countries with the help of sports.
