Hi friends in this article let us celebrate the India’s 100th test win and India is the sixth team to have won overall 100 test matches. It was just a formality for India, because we were in a very comfortable position at the end of day 3, as Sri Lanka was 57/4, with Samaraweera and Mathews still at the crease. So we need to win this test match to become the number 1 side in the world and as a matter of fact, we will share the first spot with South Africa, as both the teams will be at 122 points.
India started the day well, and the Lankan team suffered a early blow, when Zaheer got the wicket of Mathews, in spite of giving away 16 runs of that over. Mathews got out when the team score was 79 and the Lankan team lost half their side and still trailing by some 325 runs. So it was up to Samaraweera and Prasana Jayawardena to rescue the Sri Lankan innings, as they were last recognized pair and one more wicket will ensure the job to be more easier for the Indian bowlers as they just need to bowl against the tail enders.
It seems as if the rescue act began, when Prasana and samaraweera added 61 runs for the 6th wicket, but it doesn’t last long, as Prasana was bowled for 29 runs, by Harbhajan, when the team score was 140.It looked the job is still more easy for the Indian bowlers as they got almost every batsman, and they need to wrap up the innings by making the tail enders out, in quick time. As expected Herath went very early for 13 runs and again the credit goes to Harbhajan as he made Herath LBW. So everybody thought that Sri Lankan team will lose all their wickets below 200 runs.
The score was 154/7 when Herath was dismissed. But Muralitharan just smashed the Indian bowlers as he hit quick 29 runs in just 11 balls, with 2 sixes and 3 fours, before getting bowled by the debutant Prajan Ojha. The score was 191/8 when Murali was out and as expected the Lankan team will be all out below 200. But unexpectedly the 72 runs partnership between Mendis and Samaraweer really irritated the Indian bowlers. Even though wickets fell at one side, Samaraweera hammered his innings and was waiting for a partner who could build a huge partnership.
To some extent, Mendis supported him as he scored 27 runs off 75 balls, with 3 fours and finally it was Yuvraj Singh who gave the break through as he broke the partnership. The score was 264/9 when Mendis was out and India just need one wicket to register their 100 th wicket and also become the number one side in the world. Finally Ojha wrapped up the Lankan innings, when Welegedara was out caught and bowl by Ojha. Harbhajan was the leading wicket taker in the second innings with three wickets. Sreesanth was adjudged man of the match for his 6 wickets haul and it is a great comeback for him. So a great performance by India and hope we win the next match and win the series 2-0.
