*Sania Mirza
The 19- year old Sania Mirza, who has sports in her blood, was the first Indian sports woman to enter in to the first 50’s of the WTA ranking. She was also the first Indian to make it to the third round in a Grand Slam event. Sania Mirza won the distinction of being the first Indian sportswoman to feature on the cover of Time magazine.
*Kunjarani Devi
Indian’s weightlifter, Kunjarani Devi of Manipur, a deputy superintendent with the central reserve police force. She won the first gold medal for the country in the women’s 48 kg category, at the 18th common-wealth games in Melbourne, Australia on March 16, 2006. This golden lady has earned the distinction of being listed among the `Top 100 weight liters of the century’ in an issue of world weightlifting.
*Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore
The 34-year old Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, an Indian shooter, won a silver medal at the 28th Olympic Games in Athens, 2004. He has won India’s first ever individual silver medal in shooting at the Olympics.
