Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human being, human cell, or human tissue. The term is generally used to refer to artificial human cloning, although human clones in the form of identical twins are commonplace, with their cloning part of the natural process of reproduction. Although genes influence behavior and cognition, "genetically identical" does not mean altogether identical; identical twins, despite being natural human clones with nearly identical DNA, are separate people, with separate experiences and personalities. The relationship between an "original" and a clone is rather like that between identical triplets raised apart; they share nearly all of the same DNA, but little of the same environment. Ultimately, the question of how similar an original and a clone would be boils down to how much of personality is determined by genetics, an area still under active scientific investigation. Human cloning might produce many benefits. Human therapeutic cloning could provide genetically identical cells for regenerative medicine, and tissues and organs for transplantation. Such cells, tissues, and organs would neither trigger an immune response nor require the use of immunosuppressive drugs. Both basic research and therapeutic development for serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, as well as improvements in burn treatment and reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, are areas that might benefit from such new technology human cloning might obviate the human aging process
Cloning is definitely nice till it’s in limits of help to the sick and dying! But once it reaches to the level of nonsense it can be a serious threat to human race. Organ transplant will be the major benefit of animal tissue cloning. Kidneys and heart transplant will become much more possible and succesful! But its a common saying Playing with nature is playing with your own existence! So researchers will have to respect His will before any further steps! Just like an atomic bomb which when invented caused the Nagasaki Tremors, Cloning can also cause wide range of problems!!!
cloning is not simply about producing a genetic twin, cloning can be used as a solution for several other problems like to clone organs for transplants, to clone tissues and cells like they have proposed that heart attacks can be reversed using cloning ,in reconstructive surgery ,to save endangered species and the like. Cloning has also been looked into as a cure for cancer to know more about the differentiation of cells into tissues and how it can be used against cancer.Having taken into account these issues am definitely for the cloning which is about the betterment of an existing livingbeing and not about creating a new one (even if its about creating that can be accepted only when its for saving the endangered species). But to use cloning to produce a supposedly better individual or for some really dumb reason like making a clone of a long lost leader(that sounds dumb to me because if they want to clone a great leader ,with time they will want to clone sincere followers too who can be genetically programmed to be straightforward ,hardworking etc ,what is the point?), then it should not be encouraged. I can only visualise any technology for that matter as an enhancing factor and nothing more . So far i haven't really touched the issue as to what would happen if a such a technology as cloning humans fall into the hands of anti social elements, its frightening to imagine such things .My point here is I wouldn't at any time in my career work towards developing human clones nor would support such efforts.
cloning like every other technology has pros and cons.well as of now it has not got much sucess. In a science magazine that dr.hwang's false claims (of his sucess with stem cells),have affected research in this field in a big way.this shows that cloning might become a necessary evil.
cloning of endangered and extinct species might preserve them but again if they can be cloned would ppl care 2 preserve them in their natural habitats anymore?cloning of humans I certainly won’t go with, because though it might bring happiness to some families who ve lost thier kith and kin, and those who do not have children, it won’t take long for people to misuse it. 100 % sure that the day clones of Humans are produced, it won’t take long for it to reach polluted minds or who knows maybe they will be the ones who will even do it first! so even though we may say that cloning humans is not morally right it is inevitable. Some day it will surely happen.
lets take an example of a saber tooth tiger
Even if we have its dna , the mother(needed for the eggs) taken would a tiger(whatever cat) therefore resuting in a half breed. A clone will have just have the same set of genes right. But once it’s born (if that’s the right term).whatever it does to develop its strength or its mental abilities are completely in its own hand. Not a second class citizen who can be sacrificed at war. In fact if someone want to start an army he will find it easier to train the already existing manpower and not create a new army. So if it brings happiness to someone’s life don’t see why the technology should be avoided. Producing test tube babies’ isn’t exactly natural. They aren’t legally allowed. Same is with robberies and thefts even they are also not legally allowed! Well a company at USA claimed to have cloned a female human being!!!
Should humans be cloned? That is the question that many people all over the world have been debating. Some say it is morally wrong, that we would be nefariously attempting to "Play the role of God." However, the facts have shown that there is nothing inherently wrong with human cloning. Scientists have proved a number of times that human cloning would be nothing but beneficial to the human race, if only it was legal. If the law allowed human cloning, it would not only save lives, but it would lead to a number of advancements in scientific research, and improve the quality of life.
Human cloning would be a positive harbinger for mankind, and an excellent opportunity for the advancement of science. In the past century, scientists have been assiduous workers in making numerous achievements, discoveries, and inventions, giving us the knowledge we have acquired about ourselves and about the world around us. For years, scientists have studied and made tremendous progress in cloning. Experts say that if cloning research was legal we could find better treatments, and perhaps even cures for many terrible diseases that so many of us suffer and die from each year. For example, AIDS. This is a well-known illness that damages the human immune system. There are treatments available, but statistics show that three million people die from AIDS each year, and yet so far, no one has been able to find a cure. With cloning, scientists could copy and create more white blood cells to fight off and kill the deadly virus. This would save millions of innocent lives. It would also help in making new medical discoveries and expand our knowledge. With new advancements, we could continue to explore, research, and learn- just as we have been doing for several years.
Clones would be the best organ donors. Imagine your mother suddenly gets cancer in her kidneys and she needs to have a transplant. Assuming you love your mother and would do anything for her, you decide to be her donor. Then after the operation, her body rejects the new, foreign organ, and the kidney fails. The doctor says that the only way she would survive would be to find a kidney with the same type of tissue as her original, healthy tissue. The solution to your mother's problem and the answer to your prayers would be cloning. Because a clone is an exact copy, she would have no worries about her body accepting the organ or not. This would be the only way to save her. But there is just one problem, cloning humans is not legal. What is going to happen to your mother".Infertile couples could have biologically related children. For years, couples everywhere have been facing problems of infertility, meaning they are unable to reproduce. Many of these unfortunate couples still want children, so they settle for adoption. The problem with that is that the kids are not actually blood related, and this leaves an empty hole in so many people's lives. With cloning, these couples could finally have children with their genes. They would be exact copies of one parent's DNA. Cloning is the perfect solution for making many people incredibly happy, and helping the human race grow.
A handful of wary people say that cloning is unethical and would be deleterious to the human race. They say that there should only be one of each person in this world, because our individuality is what makes each person special and unique. I too believe that our individuality is what makes us special. So what do these people say about identical twins? It is proven that twins have the same genetic information. That would mean that twins are not unique or special individuals. Their minds, personalities, health, and fitness grow and change depending on how they are raised, the things they are exposed to and the activities they become interested in. Expert, James Trefil said, "Clones would be just like twins. The only difference being that the twin is born later." It would be impossible for a clone to grow up to be exactly like his original. He would be brought up differently, have different life experiences, and have relationships entirely unique to that person. Also, as researcher, Wes Carrington says, "A clone and its donor would be very different, they would even have different fingerprints." Human cloning would be entirely beneficial for science, and the quality of life, in addition to helping the prosperity of the human race. It would save, create, and improve lives all over the world. This would be an amazing accomplishment for scientists and following this major milestone, who knows what we will discover next! Human cloning would help the human race, the world of science, and the age of technology. The government would be blind not to see the benefits and allow human cloning.
Techniques of Human Cloning and Claim of Success
The most common technique used in Human Cloning is Somatic cell nuclear transfer. Under this technique, the nucleus of an egg cell taken from a donor is removed. Then the original cell gets fused with another cell of same generic material to be cloned. Another technique, which works only with male, is parthenogenesis. This technique involves inducement of unfertilized egg to divide and grow as if it were fertilized. As recently as on May 2005, a team of scientists led by Mr Hwang Woo-Chuk attached to Seoul National University, claimed to have created 11 lines of human stem cells using a different technique.
Benefits of Human Cloning
there are a number of ways; the human cloning can benefit the human kind. Here is a list, which is not exhaustive.
1. Rejuvenation
2. Heart attack
3. Human stem cellss
4. Infertility treatment
5. Use in Surgeries:
6. Defective genes:
Disadvantages of Cloning
1.The Element of Uncertainty
2.Inheriting diseases
3.The Potential for Abuse
ISLAMIC VIEW ON CLONING
cloning either of animals or of human beings is strictly forbidden in Islam its only Allah[god] who create all living creatures whether its insects or birds or sea creatures or reptiles or land animals or trees or human beings. so any scientist or doctor who doing experiment to create a animal by cloning such person can only be a devil worshipper or followers of devil
MEDICAL VIEW ON CLONING
few years ago scientist created a sheep by cloning whole world became shocked it was called a biggest breakthrough in medical science although after some years it was realized that cloned sheep had developed arthritis and that cloned sheep was suffering in life so if other animals r created by scientist by cloning these animals will develop many dangerous diseases and disabilities so its will be a cruel act to create cloned animals who will suffer in their life as they r not like normal animals rather some new species moreover the cloned animal may turn into a monster in future.
LOGICALL VIEW ON CLONING
wild life activist are in favour of cloning species lwho r going to extinct in future like panda tiger giraffe etc logically speaking instead of cloning the animals there is some other way to tackle such problem scientist or animal doctors and wild life activist people should create such evironment for extinct animals like panda big cats giraffee etc that female and male spend more time together male should be given more food to eat so that they could have more energy so that they could do more sex so that they could produce more children so that their population increase fast
Like everything in universe cloning also have positive points as well as negative points. positive if it is beneficial for the mankind, can it cause medical revolutions, can it cause better genes for future breed and etc etc.Negative points can it harm our society, may it is playing with biological creation or natures creation, may be it can cause identity crisis.so before discussing about ethics in cloning we have to discuss all the points.
