Jaipur is a capital city of Rajasthan. It is located in North India and in the hills of Aravalli. It is also called the “Pink City”. It is famous for its Forts, Food, Temples and for its Royal Tradition. It is approximately 260 kms away from New Delhi. One can reach there either by road or by rail. Most convenient and economical way to reach Jaipur is by road. A road journey takes 5-6 hours at the max from New Delhi. One can either drive down or can book a seat in a luxury coach which is easily available from New Delhi. I find the option of driving down to Jaipur more convenient. It not only makes me my own boss but it also allows me to travel in the AC while listening to my favorite music.
The moment we enter the Pink City we can see the Amer fort which was built by Raja Man Singh in 16th century. The red sand stone used in the fort is visible from distance. Apart from Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Amer Fort, Ram Niwas Garden etc Jaipur has lots of palaces turned hotels. Ram Bagh Palace, Jai Mahal Palace, The Raj palace and The Chomu palace are some of the famous palaces turned hotels.
I was lucky to get a room in Jai Mahal Palace. Jai Mahal Palace is a beautiful property owned by the Taj Group of hotels. This huge property is located in Jaipur. This hotel has several rooms and suites which are well equipped with all the basic amenities. The property has a swimming pool, a mini golf course, an open chess board, croquet and a gym. The property has lots of gardens as well which are very well decorated with fountains and small water bodies. Food served in this hotel is exotic especially Dal bati churma, Besan gutta, Marwadi Gutta Kadhi, Moong Dal Halwa etc.
Jaipur is a must visit city of Rajasthan. It’s language, food, music, traditional clothing etc has made me feel like a king.
