Kumar Sanu was born in a Hindu family in Kolkata, October 20. His real name is Kedarnath Bhattacharya. Kumar Sanu’s father Pashupati Bhatacharya was also a vocalist, and made his son Kumar Sanu how to sing and how to play Tabla. Kumar Sanu started singing in the year 1979 publicly. He performed at many places near to kolkata, after getting a degree in commerce. Kumar Sanu tried to play back after a prominent singer known as Kishore Kumar but later on he developed his own style and began the era of his singing with his own talent. Kumar Sanu in his early life started his singing as a professional in some Bangladeshi films like Tin Kanya and the title song of this film which he sang was Tin konyar ek chobi. Later on he was also given a chance from a Bollywood Lyrist and Music Director known as Jagjit Singh. He offered Kumar Sanu his first Bollywood film song known as Aandhiyan and later on one after another song and proposals came to him from the prominent Music Directors like Kalyanji-Anandji who gave him a chance to sing in his film known as Jadugar. And he was the first person to give Kedarnath Bhattacharya his new name Kumar Sanu.
Personal & Professional Life
Kumar Sanu was from a Bengali Hindu family with a rich culture and background of music which he inherited from his father, who taught him playing table and singing. Kumar Sanu is also awarded with one of the India's highest civilian award known as the Padma Shri Award for his over 1700 songs. Kumar Sanu also holds a Guinness World Record for singing 28 songs in one day as well as he was also honored as an artist of the decade in IIFA awards. He also won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer for 5 times consecutively. For all this achievement Kumar Sanu started his playback career in the year 1987 by singing Bollywood songs and from then he was well known for his talent. Kumar Sanu had also worked with many composers like Naushad, Ravindra Jain, Hirydayanath Mangeshkar and many more who are most prominent in the Indian Bollywood film industry. For the year 1990 Nadeem –Shravan selected Kumar Sanu to sing all his songs for which he won the best Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer Award. He got awards for singing at Superhit movies which are saajan, deewana, bazigar and 1942: a love story. To reach the top most heights Kumar Sanu had also collaborated with other top most Music Directors and singers like Nadeem-Sharavan, Jatin Lalit, Anu Malik, as well as other composers like R.D burman, Himesh Reshamia, Vishal- Shekhar and many more.
The closest person of Kumar Sanu was his mother Saloni. Who was not only like his friend but also a teacher of love, compassion and as well as fearlessness. She always wanted Kumar sanu to be the Best Singer as well as a good father and a good husband. Kumar Sanu in his life time did many performances on stage, on air, play backs etc but he was best comfortable with stage performances as well as did many shows on the television for his fans like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and etc. He was known as the legend of his high peak time. Even today many people love his songs as they are may be old but still the gold. He had two daughters from his first wife with whom he divorced and married after a some time. But his talent was the main thing with which he was in a long term relationship and for which he is well known today.
Being a prolific and stared singer Kumar Sanu is well known for his songs and music direction in many films. He started his career as a singer but directed music and gave lyrics and music to the songs of multiple films. He was even well known for his steps taken to become a great singer. He first started it by being and making his singing style like Kishore kumar but later on he used his own style for which he is famous now.
