Before i start i'd like to mention that this is a true incident which happened to my cousin 2 yrs ago and "shameless me" am sitting here and making money at his expense or should i say agony ..he he.. poor him... Its something we laugh about even today when we think of it... here it goes....
"Love, thy name complicated" was his motto during college days so he used to avoid cupid's now n then attacks..Not that there were no pretty damsels around...its just that he didnt want to get "INVOLVED" ( as he used to put it)
Time flew..He passed out and got a nice and decent job. There were invitations of his old batchmates tying the knots, Girls ditching the love of their lives for greener pastures etc. yet his (my cousins) life seemed to stagnate.
Thats when this happened. He was in train leadin to mumbai for some business assignment. In his front sit was amiddle aged lady chatting with a group of college students. Conversation rolled off between the lady and my cousin as well at by the end of their journey they shared many a things including their cell numbers.
In the following days a phone call broke the monotony of his hectic schedule..
"Are you married?" this was the same lady my cousin met in the train
"No..why?"
"Because i have someone in mind for you"
"Who??" asked my cousin hoping it wasnt the middle aged lady herself...
"Its my daughter sweetie, I think she is the kinda girl you might like. Why dont you two get to know each other better?" she replied
"Ok!! Never mind" the rookie in my cousin answered
That very night bhaiya got an email from sweetie> Must say, she impressed him. She was working with some NG and seemed to be an interesting character.Their relationship progressed gradually and from emails they switched on to phone calls.
And then one day they decided to meet. The venue was supposed to be the coffe shop coz "a lot can happen over coffee" .. According to bhaiya.. Sweetie was sweet to talk to , but not the picture he had in mind of his dream girl. she seemed like a confident, sensible and of course a sweet girl.
Everything was going smoothly. Her parents were gagaover bhaiya that he had achieved a lot at this young age( when he was supposed to be fooling around). Our family was shocked but our elders silently laid the fault on our SMS generation. All seemed perfect until sweetie called up one day to discuss something urgent,
"I like you. you are a very nice and caring guy"
Cut the crap and come to the point... my cousin was thinking
" i dont know how to tell you but i cant marry you. I want to do soemthing in my life. My boss has promised me a promotion if i hang on, and you being frequently transferred, i wont be able to work"" said she..
" Till now you didnt realise the calling of you life..Confused females again.." my cousin said ( i was just next to him during the call.. n being a female myself..i din like a confused female part 1 bit..)
"I am sorry..but i did all this to pleasemy mother. Please say No to this relation" she said..
Thankfully my cousin was not emotionally INVOLVED with this sweetie thing, but she really bugged him.
"Ok!! Fine...Nothing was finalised and by the way tell your mom not to hunt for Grooms , bachelors in local trains and buses next time".. with this he slammed the phone.
My cousins mom i guess was secretly happywith the new development but she gave him one tested time advance "Dont talk to strangers"!!!! :-)
P.S : My cousin is now married and well settled and trust me i have the best bhabhi in this world... And sweetie if your reading this... I hope you got your promotion from boss!!!
