The twins Savita and Kavita are coloring picture. Their friend, Suresh, is with them. Suddenly, they hear a voice `Hello, children!’
They look up to see Uncle Anil. He is their mother’s brother.
`Hello, uncle Anil!’ say the three of them together. They are happy to see him. He is fun to be with, and plays games with them. However, today he looks worried.
`I have to go to the police station,’ he says. `An antique mask has been stolen from the museum.’
What can us to help, the children wonder after uncle Anil left.
`I know!’ says Kavita. `Let’s go to Mr. Shyam’s shop’.
`Oh, yes!’ say Savita and Suresh. `His shop is full of antique things’.
The children walk to the shop. It takes them five minutes. They go in to have a look.
Mr. Shyam sees the children come into the shop. He knows they are up to mischief. He quietly walks over to them.
The children are staring at a shelf of masks. They are trying to see if the antique one missing from the museum is here.
A shadow falls over them. They look up to see Mr. Shyam glaring down at them. `What are you doing here?’ he asks in an angry voice. `Get out of my shop at once.’
He looks angry. The children leave meekly. They are too scared to disobey him.
The children decide to stick around. After an hour, they see a man enter the shop. He is wearing a long coat with an upturned collar. A hat is pulled over his eyes. He is carrying something wrapped in brown paper.
The children follow the mysterious man side. They see him hand the package over to Mr. Shyam. They can now see his face clearly. It is Mr. Shetty from the museum.
`That must be the missing mask,’ yells Suresh.
`Let’s get them,’ yells Savita.
Kavita grabs the package from Mr. Shyam and runs out of the shop. Savita runs to the door and locks it. She throws the key out of the window. Suresh picks up the telephone and calls the police.
The two men are too dazed to do anything. The police quickly reach the shop. They arrest the two men. Uncle Anil is happy to get the mask back. He thanks the children. He promises to get them whatever they want as thank-you gift.
Arrest- the police take away somebody who they think has done something against the law.
